these are a selection of demos before their first album and from when they were still called 'marilyn manson and the spooky kids' and had a huge following........thats what made the band successful.......like the grateful dead they had a large following before they ever released an album...

NTW, I'm really surprised that someone with your political and philosophical standpoints can appreciate Manson and his lyrics...

i love manson
he is a master of minimal maximalism and just all around perfect imo.
dont be so quick to assume manson's lyrics are as liberal as you think they are...

Manson's minimalist lyrics are not necessarily "bleeding heart left-wing" if you interpret the word "liberal" that way. But they DO value non-herd thinking and the respect for minorities above all. Just take a quick look at the minimalist "Beautiful People".
Concepts that seem foreign to you, judging by som of the other posts I have read by you.

my interpretation of those lyrics is much different than yours, but I feel my interepretation is correct.
He said in interviews that the song The Beautiful People was about psychological fascism.......the jetset......the fascism of the elite......
it's spoken from the perspective of someone that is a jetset......manson sometimes speaks through a character in his writing in order to critique that character....
the most telling part is this :
"THE HORRIBLE PEOPLE, THE HORRIBLE PEOPLE
IT'S AS ANATOMIC AS THE SIZE OF YOUR STEEPLE
CAPITALISM HAS MADE IT THIS WAY,
OLD-FASHIONED FASCISM
WILL TAKE IT AWAY "
this is spoken by someone that blames capitalism for the failures of the world and in their ignorance unwittingly adapts a philosophy of fascism to cure what they consider to be the weakness.
consider this qoute from the keyboard player who has been with the band since inception :
How do you feel about people bootlegging your show, does that bother you?
"Obviously, it should. I mean, I'm still a capitalist, we all are. I mean, I could use the money they're making off the bootlegs. Another thing is that they usually suck because fans get a low quality product that hasn't gotten the Marilyn Manson stamp of approval of quality. So your ripping off the public and second, I could use the money to buy drugs with, and it pisses me off. So there are two good reasons why it sucks. I mean, right now they're taking drugs out of my mouth everytime they do that. I find that offensive."

now note the Hitler quote in my signature...

Adolf Hitler, leader of the National Socialists and frequent denouncer of big capitalism, was a socialist?
Sounds like a bit of a stretch to me..

What did you think of his interview in "Bowling for Columbine"?
(IMHO, it was one of the better parts of the film, and caused me to suddenly have more respect for him than I did originally)
And his remarks on an awards show about freeing the people from the "Tyranny of Christianity"?
This could be a whole new side of you we'd like to meet...

yes, his speech in bowling for columbine was the only reason I went to see the film and I loved it.
here's the televised speech you're referring to :
"My fellow Americans, we will no longer be oppressed by the fascism of Christianity, and we will no longer be oppressed by the fascism of Beauty, 'cause I see you all sittin' out there tryin' your hardest not to be ugly, tryin' your hardest not to fit in, tryin' your hardest to earn your way into Heaven, but let me ask you... Do you wanna be in a place that's filled with a bunch of a**holes! --
here's another for you
"“Just different elements of underlying fascism,” he drawled. “We’re all monkeys in this world. When we try to get beyond that we just hurt each other.”

Yes, that was it. Thank you...
I wonder if we can extend some of this into a philosophy we can agree on.

I agree.
NTW somehow seems a whole lot more likeable to me... he even (unwittingly) confirmed my interpretation of the Manson song with the Manson quotes he provides ("The Individual above the Collective" is EXACTLY what I referred to!).
I don't know however, how the Opinions you give off in the "Politics" forum can stand strong next to the Ideology you praise here? After all, in Politics you seem to be pretty much a "lockstep" republican who follows a fascist government...?
