1. Mocking them
2. Ignoring them
3. Assaulting them


People typically go for one of the first two options...but every now and then a truther pisses someone off enough for option 3.

Having said that one of favourite memories travelling was when I was in Georgia and had fallen into a rather heavy drinking session with some young english speakers (sort of) and an Australian fellow traveller. Georgians take their wine seriously and their drinking seriously and without any self-consciousness were proposing a series of toasts. Well, Kiwis and Aussies are not too good at proposing toasts, but suddenly inspiration struck. I had an australian 50 cent coin in my pocket, pulled it out and showed the back and said "Gentlemen, this is the Queen of Australia. I propose a toast to the Queen." Which all the Georgians thought was a wonderfully polite thing to do and boisterously raised their glasses "To the Queen of Australia." While the Australian burst out into a string of profanities.

Neither has had much real discussion in the last say two years - all the real issues dealt with long ago. A bit of a revival following Jones invention of the ThermXte issue - his attempt to restore his failing image and market share. People seem to enjoy the technical discussions. I tend to go straight to the bottom line on that one. It would mean nothing if there had been a 100ton cache of ThermXte found on GZ. There was no demolition therefore ThermXte wasn't used. So whether the dust was thermXte or not is a red herring.

Not really surprising that a local board would be behind the times - I would have to read it and possibly take part to gain any understanding of the reasons.

"When I asked him directly whether he was saying that if there was a breakdown in our relations, the US would conduct intelligence operations against us he said he did not know," Henderson writes.

I believe 6 months later or so a ship blew up in Auckland harbour and no one, least of all the Australians (or their Norfolk Island off-shoots), proved very helpful in extraditing the culprits.

Perhaps we should have pinned it on the Libyans instead?

We haven't had any truthers at the Australasian Skeptics Forum (link being pimped in my sig), but we've had a number of topics scoffing at them. :)
I keep repeating that we have no truthers here - and getting ignored by both sides. :rolleyes: IMNSHO they are (nearly) all mere trolls. You look - I'll point. ;)

A few genuine discussion threads aside most threads here after the first handful of on topic posts descend into bi-directional trolling (My new term :) )

Around 2006-7 into 2008 we had genuine truthers and genuine sceptics coming to these forums.

Aside from a few threads there is little genuine scepticism being displayed. Part of the answer is that all the questions have been answered and most genuine sceptics have received and apparently been satisfied with the answers they were given. That was certainly my experience on the Dawkins' forum through 2007/8 but the supply of genuine sceptics (Or genuine truthers ) had fallen off to near zero by 2009.

So I would hazard a guess that there is little for a genuine truther to take to your Aust Sceptics Forum. And the sort of trolls we get here and misname "truther" need some frustrated by boredom debunkers that they can goad into responding. Not that most need much goading. You wouldn't have the bored but familiar with the truther canard debunkers on your forum so little point in any of our trolls trying the trolling game on your board.
