View Full Version : "Occupy Building 7" This Week: Place Your Bets!

Here are the plans for the Occupy Building 7 protests this week (from the Remember Building 7 newsletter today:

Stand in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street following their eviction from Liberty Plaza and join the explosion of Occupy energy this weekend by occupying Building 7 and demanding once and for all a real investigation into the events of 9/11.

Details:

Thursday, 7:00am (or anytime) until late: Show your support for Occupy Wall Street on the two-month anniversary of this historic movement’s beginning by marching from Liberty Plaza to the New York Stock Exchange. At 5pm assemble at Foley Square and march to the Brooklyn Bridge. Distribute Occupy Building 7 fliers to thousands of occupiers and other New Yorkers, and let them know we the 99% stand in solidarity with them. Click to download the Occupy Building 7 fliers.

11:00am Saturday: Begin assembling by the tall red sculpture at the southeast corner of Liberty Plaza (the corner of Broadway and Cedar St.). Hand out thousands of Occupy Building 7 fliers to occupiers and passers by, and invite them to occupy Building 7 with us.

Noon Saturday: Depart for the rebuilt World Trade Center Building 7, just four blocks away.

12:15-12:30pm Saturday: Occupy the park in front of Building 7 and remain there until nightfall.

2:00pm Saturday: Join the Occupy Building 7 General Assembly and be a part of shaping the future of Occupy Building 7.

Sunday: same schedule. Start assembling at the tall red sculpture at 11:00am. Depart for Building 7 at noon. Occupy until nightfall. General Assembly at 2:00pm.

If you're of the gambling persuasion, there's loads of betting opportunites:

Will they get arrested for assembling in Liberty Plaza, or marching to the Brooklyn Bridge?

Will anyone even turn up?

How many flyers will be distributed?

Will the OWS protesters disown them?

Can you think of any more?

If they don't stay the night in Liberty Park then I doubt that they will have any problems on that front, it's the campers that are having problems. I give it 2-1 odds in favor of the truthers that the OWS people will not kick them out. The truthers will of course then say that OWS also supports their calls for a new investigation into 9/11.

I base this guess upon the way that the Anti-war protests treated the truthers in the past and that a lot of the same people were at both. Besides, in a group without any designated leadership who will decide who should stay and who should go?

It should be interesting to see how this little sideshow plays out.

Good points.

I agree. The OWS people aren't organised enough to agree on kicking out any hangers-on.

Will they get arrested for assembling in Liberty Plaza, or marching to the Brooklyn Bridge?

No, their first march is a four-minute walk (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Liberty+Plaza,+New+York,+NY&daddr=New+York+Stock+Exchange,+Wall+Street,+NY&hl=en&ll=40.708206,-74.011127&spn=0.002867,0.005681&geocode=FdMsbQIdPKyW-ylbQmxaF1rCiTErWt8nJenPqQ%3BFaslbQId762W-yEZIlzNuIFFjg&dirflg=w&doflg=ptm&mra=ls&t=m&z=18&vpsrc=6), and their second is "just four blocks away" which leaves a very narrow window for arrest. That doesn't leave much of a window for arrest. Especially if you can do the march "7:00 am or anytime," which will diffuse the number of people in their group.

Also, they'll be occupying the park from 12:15-12:30pm and remaining there until nightfall. Which is difficult to do unless you're in Barrow, Alaska.

God, these people couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery.

Not specifically Occupy Building 7 but I'm sure these two made it down there... Kanaska's face, complete with lip and brow piercings and the word FREEDOM tattooed across her neck, appeared in a recent New York Times "Faces of Zuccotti Park" feature. She explained that she's been at the protest from the first day, having originally come to New York for the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and ending up staying for Occupy Wall Street.

What was she doing at the 9/11 memorials? "Activism, 9/11 truthing, speaking about the evidence about how the official story's not real," she said.

Kanaska wasn't alone. Earlier, when Rassi gave an impassioned speech to a small crowd of protesters, he said, "Does anyone know what happened at the World Trade Center? Do you realize that this country is under the domination of a gang of killers who brought this building down? You better believe it."

VANCOUVER – JUNE (8): Kanaska Carter, with her backpack close by, composes her own music and busks as a way for it to be heard on June 8, 2010 the corner of Granville and Robson, Downtown, Vancouver, British Columbia. She was formerly a squatter in the Olympic tent city and is still an activist for the downtown eastside. She was not particularly keen on the idea of designated busking spots as she felt freedom might be compromised.

"Look at when the Native Americans were here," added Kanaska Carter, from Canada. "They were sleeping wherever they wanted. Nobody should have the right to own land like this. I think that we should have the right to sleep anywhere that we want."
Let's play "follow the logic" everyone!

Hopefully she won't decide to sleep in my living room ;).

Yup. No matter where they go, no matter who they talk to, the arguments are exactly the same.

One redeeming feature, however -- I am entertained by the fellow calling himself "Doodles Weaver," an homage to the famous trumpet-comedian and one of Spike Jones's cohorts from the 1940's and 50's...

Well yes, as a matter of fact, I am. Love how they seem to think the "engineers" of AE911 are the MOST qualified, most knowledgeable in the entire country if not the world ;). You'd have thought the government would have brought THEM in on the investigation, what with their astute powers to make determinations from nothing more than grainy youtube videos.

We visited NYC from the 15th of Sept until the 22nd. And we had the "pleasure" of seeing these occupiers just above the memorial park. What a bunch of pathetic losers! There was several that looked more like junkies than anything else, a bunch of those "Anonymus" folks, people drinking (like 9 in the morning) heavily... it was a sorry bunch!
On another note; I talked with a police officer (that was guard at the entry gate for the memorial park, right next to the hotel entrance, - I`m a periodically smoker so talking to him was kinda natural); he lost his firerfighter brother-in-law 9/11. His sis was ragingly angry with the twoofers, and he had had to hold her back from clocking a few of them at several memorial services that has been held. They even tried to convince her kids that 911 was bogus, and that really drove her over the top.... What kind of people does this??? (Sorry for the off topic, guys, but it was so....dunno - enrageing to hear about this that I just had to share!)

They claim there is all this support for them, and that they are relevant, but can't get 50 people out there, and not even the one who put it on.

Conclusion: We're laughing at them because they're pathetic.

Talking to the cop made a serious impression on me.... He was in Brooklyn on patrol as a rookie 9/11. He didnt see the first plane hit, but he saw the second one approaching and the smoke and flames a little while later. He said the feeling he had, seeing that second plane, was one he never had before, and never hoped to have again. The total feeling of shock, disbelief and helplessness, and knowing that his brother in law was working that day, as well as some of his buddies from the academy. He said it tore his heart out. And I can believe that....

We stayed this last time in The World Centre Hotel... Our room terrace (I had no idea that it was possible to have a 20m2 terrace in Manhattan!) looked straight into GZ and all the builders and machines. It was surrealistic; I went to NYC the first time in 1996, and remember the WTC very clearly. And looking down from that terrace I kept wondering if any of these CT`ers ever been in lower Manhattan? If they did, they would know that any falling debries would definetly hit surrounding buildings..... Anyone that says it wouldnt, have never been to Manhattan at all.
(on a different note; I think I as a Norwegian feel kind of an ownership to the memorial park, since the memorial building/visitor centre is designed by Snøhetta, which is a Norwegian architect firm).

I checked "theother99" feed from Tim a few times, but he wasn't on air. There haven't been any updates on the FB or twitter page. No pictures, no video, nothing. The only activity was the organizer (who lives in Cali) spamming various other FB pages. I was going to ask on the fb page, but they banned me..maybe someone else can.

I would guess they didn't have much of a turnout.

The only post on the FB page from today is from this guy:

Not true! Many of them joined a group in Facebook!

"You don't have to legally pay taxes," Kanaska said, "so whether or not you pay taxes, you should have the right to exist and live, put up a tent or have a sleeping bag."

Stay classy, truthers.

If they believe that, they can get a nice stay at a Club Fed and claim they're being oppressed because of "da Twoof"

In their defence, this is actually true - if you don't earn very much money.

Which is likely true for a lot of these people.

Maybe 20ish truthers at Zuccotti Park.
One guy sermonising, the rest repeating his mantra.
Others stand around and gape at this spectacle of truth cult behaviour.
You can guess just how desperately sad this is, and I had to skip large chunks of the video through boredom.

Why do they repeat everything he says? That's creepy.

I'm guessing this is what they're trying:

Call and response is a form of "spontaneous verbal and non-verbal interaction between speaker and listener in which all of the statements ('calls') are punctuated by expressions ('responses') from the listener."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_and_response

But as with all things truther they're doing it wrong.

It's a new technique developed by the 'occupy Wall St' folks. Since they weren't allowed bullhorns they have the crowd repeat everything to amplify it.

Truthers are just adopting this technique is all.

Talking to the cop made a serious impression on me.... It was surrealistic;

Thx for the posts. btw, not to nag you but it makes more sense to call yourself an 'occasional smoker' rather than 'periodically'. Your English is very good, my Norwegian is nonexistent...:o

I think you can judge how well their message was received by listening to the "human microphone". When the guy first gets up and introduces himself, it sounds like most of the crowd gathered around was repeating him...a courtesy the OWS people extend to pretty much anyone. But, as he starts getting into the meat of his message, and starts talking about "bone fragments on the tops of buildings...ignored" He loses most of the crowd. By the end of his speech, it's pretty much the only the 20 truthers repeating him.

After the speech was over, and the one girl yells "occupy the truth" several times, only a handful repeated her, and only the truthers applauded....everyone else seemed discussed.

"There's not enough people here! I'm leaving, so there's even less!"

:dl:

This is hilarious! Truthers turning on each other never gets old. :big:

That's just the technique for the "human microphone". Sentences are kept short or broken up, so that the crowd can repeat them easily...it's so everyone can hear what the speaker is saying without the use of megaphones, which aren't allowed in the park.

No wonder these chowderheads can't get anything accomplished.

That fell...
That fell!

At free fall...
At free fall!

At 5:20...
At 5:20!

That day.
That day!

Even if there was a compelling message being communicated, the medium just doesn't suit. They should stick to youtubes with creepy music.

Not really sure if a handful of twoofers and a few bemused OWS types really constitute a crowd - isn't the collective noun for twoofers a fail?
