"Powell theorizes that the evolution of dreaming and psychic phenomena developed simultaneously as a defense mechanism so that baby mammals who are in a REM-state would be able to psychically connect to their mothers if there was an imminent threat to their safety. She also likes David Bohm's theory of the universe as a dynamic hologram that allows humans to access information about the universe by going within. Finally, she talks about her hopes to be able to lessen the taboo for patients to be able to talk about their psychic experiences within the context of the psychiatric fields."
Hey guys I heard you like podcasts and psychic stuff so here you go, enjoy!

And so this is why sleeping babies everywhere can psychically holler for help to Mommy if, for example, a rat climbs up into the baby's bed, or if an earthquake threatens?
I see.
Good to know the reason why I was continually being woken up by my three kids when they were babies by "Disaster is approaching! Save me!" bulletins. It seemed like there was always some crisis going on somewhere in the world that they interpreted, overly widely in my opinion, to threaten them personally; maybe they were just unusually sensitive to the psychic flow of disaster. I was glad when they all outgrew it and I could stop being woken up in the middle of the night and psychically informed about asteroid near-misses.

Wouldn't someone have to demonstrate psychic phenomena existed before looking for the neuroscience?

I said this in a similar thread you started this morning, and I say it again: I'm not too keen on posters that start "Well, what do you thing of this?" threads but don't have the guts to give their own opinions on the topic, because if people support it the Original Poster is already at the front of the parade, and if it goes bad, the Original Poster can say "I didn't say I supported the idea-I was just putting it out there for discussion".
So, Limbo-What is your opinion of his theories?
"I find them (or him) interesting" will not be acceptable. People found Hitler "interesting", whether they supported him or hated him

I stopped there.
Reminds me of, " It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts."
Like I said before, it seems silly to look for the neuroscientific basis of a phenomeon that has not been shown to exist.
Why not study the biochemistry of ectoplasm, then?

Utter nonsense. before trying to come up with an explanation they better come up with evidence of a phenomena (hint : none really at the moment).
