A Middle Eastern Disney World would ensure lasting peace in Iraq by easing fear and anger among children, according to Deepak Chopra, the popular self-help guru.

The idea is one of 10 suggestions Dr. Chopra outlines in an essay that is to appear today in several European newspapers. He also suggests free access to CNN news and MTV music videos will encourage Iraqis, who face the imminent threat of a U.S.-led invasion to unseat their leader, Saddam Hussein, to "feel like part of the world."

Brilliant!

Because the reason why Iraqis don't have CNN and MTV is because we're pricing them too high. And someone should tell Chopra that Iraq has a theme park, (Saddamland) but only Ba'ath party officials and their guests can use it.

What kills me about this article (http://www.nationalpost.com/national/story.html?id={A52C4A9B-D09F-4B34-A4A1-190E4A0F1254}) is how seriously it seems to take Chopra's... ideas. I guess it's meant to be satire?

Didn't we already try this in France?

I'm afraid the representation of human and human-like forms in the Magic Kingdom would violate Muslim sensibilities.

One of the big complaints coming form the Middle East is about our "cultural imperialism". Now imagine putting what is argueably the largest American cultral icon in existence out there.

Is it just me, or maybe this is a good idea. I mean, the sort of ridged authoritarianism that charachterizes Disney World might fit right in with the terror state of Saddam...just a thought.

Chopra only has the solution to one problem. "How do I spend 30 bucks on a book and feel totally ripped off?"

That's why our soldiers' chemical/bio weapons suits are equipped with Mickey Mouse caps.
