Hi,

I think the latest developments here have made it clear that the JREF Writers´ Group, both as a JREF Writers´ Group and as a group based in this forum, will not continue beyond the upcoming changes.

Since I don´t want that to happen, I propose the following:

- I will ask Pixy Misa, the owner, admin and Lord God of mu.nu, to create a usergroup for us. Since we cannot keep the "JREF" moniker, I propose calling the group the "Living Poets´ Society" :)

- That usergroup will have three subforums: one for discussion of member contributions, one as an archive of older contributions (should the authors want their contributions to be archived) and one for miscellaneous threads about literature (from a writer´s point of view), writing, and publishing.
I suggest that the discussion and archive forums should visible only to usergroup members, but the miscellaneous forum should be viewable by non-members, as an "appetizer".

- Members can enter short contributions (a few thousand words perhaps) into the discussion forum on a regular basis if they want - more frequently than with our current mailing list solution, anyway; I am thinking about at least once per month per member at least.
This kind of arrangement works very well for several German-language online writers´ group I take part in.

- Parallel to that, we can continue a mailing list for longer contributions, which would get a more in-depth critique than those posted in the forum. These contributions could be monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or whatever interval seems practical.

Well, that are my thoughts on this. What do you think? (But whatever you think, think quickly, since our days here are numbered, and the number is pretty small)

As more information comes in about how the fora will be after the split, it's still not clear whether or not the writer's group should be moved. Obviously, since no one has posted on this thread til this one (and the original of course), it looks like a wait and see.

Unless, of course, no one wants the writer's group to continue.

Sounds good to me, though I don't really like the name "Living Poets Society". On the other hand I can't think of anything better, so I can't b!tch about it too much.
