Todays the first day for same sex marriage certificates to be issued. Funny thing I did not know. Mass has a 3 day waiting period for marriage. Not for guns. WHICH IS MORE DANGEROUS I SAY!!!!! (You can get a waiver ofthe waiting period bythe way.)

If you regret your gun purchase, you can always throw it in a lake to rid of it. In my experience trying to dispose of one's "awful wedded" in the same fashion is liable to end in tears
Hooray for Mass. anyway

I thought we drove the conservatives into Boston Harbor years ago???! They must be sneaking into the state via New Hampshire. Now theres a border that needs sealing.

Actually it's a six day waiting period for a background check on a centerfire weapon. None on a shotgun if you have your blue card. No blue card,no nothin'.

You know who you should ask if they're happy- all the kids who won't have a married mother and father, but freakish queer parents instead. Don't ask how they feel right now, wait until they're 18 and grown. Oh wait, liberals aren't "adult" until age 30 or so. (Don't trust anyone over 30!!!) Get back to me in 20 years.

That is of course making the wrong assumption that homosexuals are all 'liberal', which they aren't. In fact some homosexuals even support the pope and conservative values in general.
BTW conservatives aren't adults until they get married and there mommy doesn't have to care for them anymore.

What are you talking about? Mass is generally one of the freeist states in the country (as in freedom not as in $$costs). We donthave a bunch of religious lawmaking freaks looking to control everything.
Ive been to other states and Im shocked to find state owned liquor stores, and strip clubs with crazy no touching/alchohol rules!! BAH! That aint freedom!

I dunno, it's been two years since I've lived in Boston, but have things changed THAT much? It used to be that you couldn't by liquor on Sundays, no wine and beer in grocery stores, millions of dollars wasted on busting barely under-age drinkers, all the bars close just as you're starting to enjoy yourself, and when you leave the bar there's no good places to get grub.
But besides all that, I love it and I'm probably coming back. :)

I repeat my constant question: 'What's so 'gay' about beingt queer?'
If being 'queer' was so good, why is it that all religions (Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and I'm fairly sure Hinduism) mandate the death penalty for homosexuality? How can thousands of years' experience be so wrong?
Why is it that every civilization that has embraced homosexuality was destroyed by outside invaders? Greece, Rome, ...
This is testable: name one civilization that embraced homosexuality and isn't history?...
Western Civilization 'tolerated' homosexuality for the last 200 years. Now we are literally having homosexuality forced down our throats. No wonder God gave us Lev.20:13... there's no 'tolerating' deviants...
As a small business owner, I'll not be granting marital benefits to homosexuals. I already don't acknowledge so-called 'civil-unions.' (granted, I don't recognize heterosexual 'civil unions' either... know as 'common law' marriges in Ohio, but outlawed some years ago.)
There is a difference, however, between 'civil union' and 'common law' marriages. 'Civil unions' are forced on the people from tyrannical government officials, including judges. 'Common law' unions are de facto unions that everyone in the community recognize. 'Common law' unions are also of long-standing existance within the community. Not so with 'civil unions'.
I should also note that 'common law' marriges were always heterosexual. The 'union' had issue... ie, children. Marrige was ever an institution to protect the children. 'Common law' marriges were backed up by the community.
Well, I'll not be 'backing up' two queers who only want to plunder my community.
Gee, my first post, and I already have to be as mean as the faggots...

Ofcourse it's also ironic that if THEY were in charge they'd NEVER have that freedom because someone "more knowing" would be in charge. I wonder what a govt. like that would be -
OH YEA They're called Nazi's, Communists and the Taliban.

Greece and Rome are still around.
And I think you gotthe Common law /Civil Union backwards. Its common law marriage thats forced on people who been together for a certain amount of time. People who could get married but CHOSE not to all of a sudden are common law married?? Thats thrust upon them.

Ah, good ol' Leviticus. The book that brought us such wisdom as:4:22
When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
4:23
Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish:
4:24
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering. So, how many goats do we have to kill and burn to make up for Bush, ya suppose?
20:9
For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him. That's right, whenever your teenager gets mouthy, kill them. That'll stop that back talk.
25:45
Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.Tourists in town? See if you can buy a few for slaves.
Yep, can't beat Leviticus....

How can thousands of years' experience be so wrong?
Appeal to age.

Correlation vs. Causation fallacy--or more commonly known, After It, Therefore Because Of It, fallacy.
Congratulations, your entire argument consists of logical fallacies.
Western Civilization 'tolerated' homosexuality for the last 200 years. Now we are literally having homosexuality forced down our throats.
Just a pet peeve of mine, misuse of "literally". Nobody is prying your mouth open and putting "homosexuality" into your throat. It's a figure of speech, hence the opposite of literal.
Let's expand things... if I had a seething hatred of the entire institution of marriage, am I having something "forced down my throat" if the law allows it? If I don't want to give any special treatment to married employees, and the law says I must, am I being persecuted by a tyrannical government?

So what , who asked you too? Do you offer benefits to heterosexuals?
Do you take 'queer money' as a small bussinessw owner i assume that you make moeny.
Do you ask them if they are gay?
Would you offer a job to a man who beats his wife?
How about a man that leaves his two year old locked in a room all day while they sleep?
Would you offer benefits to a serial murderer?
How about a person who just has homosexual sex.
Gosh you sure are hung up and all silly.

Hopefully this will be a swing for the US away from the religious zealotry that started after 9/11. Guess what, every group larger than a few people has gay people in it. There are gay fundamentalist christians, gay catholic priests, you have gay neighbors. Some go into the closet, some do not.
For those of you who oppose gay marriage, how do you view homosexuality, and how it should be treated? Should gays be forced to supress their feelings for eachother, marry into loveless relationships with the opposite sex, lead lives of quiet desperation? Who gave conservative america the right to determine (and they are trying to get a constitutional amendment here,) how each and every one of us choose to live?
How about countries which passed laws against homosexuality? Like Germany in the 1930's.... I know, Nazi reference, but I feel strongly that the Constitution should be about giving rights not taking them away.

Actually, after another discussion of logical fallacies, I have tended to avoid using the latin... those that understand aren't the kind I need to convince they are making a logical error.
But then again, as Leslie Fish says, those that listen to reason aren't the kind to give you grief in the first place, so maybe it's all futile. But we keep trying, like fools.

Why is it that this particular imagery always pops up in anti-gay discussion threads? Is there some sort of legal statute, or is it a heretofore unknown consequence of one of the laws of thermogoddamics?
At least it's courteous of the homophobes to identify themselves--and their darkest locker-room fears--so clearly. It's like a secret lodge handshake, or something.
What they're really afraid of, I'll wager, is all the earthquakes and famines that won't happen in Massachusetts. Their god is dead. They just won't stop fiddling with the corpse.

Wow. Well, it’s time to come clean. I can’t keep these secrets anymore. Beside what I’ve gathered in my extensive examination of the subject, I know a guy whose dentist is high up in the radical gay political wing, and I’ve learned a number of things.
For example, did you that some scientist says that Ritalin makes you gay? Particularly if you take it within a ten block radius of any competent production of Cats. It’s true...
Historically, sodomites have relentlessly tried to undermine every society to which they belong. Just don’t like societies (or families), I guess. In fact, the effect of “embracing” the homosexual lifestyle on the Roman culture was soooooooo pernicious that even many years after Christianity took over and criminalized homosexuality, the empire still fell. It was simply too late.
Not only cultures, but think about bands? Eurasure, Depeche Mode, Ted Nugent, for example, where are they now?
Also, did you know the first crash of the Windows operating system didn’t happen until after the 1969 Stonewall riots?
In fact, fags have been linked to many horrors and abominations, including but not limited to: male pedicures, peach tree root rot, Must See TV, the verb ‘zhuzh’, and the recent rise in teen pregnancy.
Anyway, I’m glad to get that off my chest.

Stuart by The Dead Milkmen (http://www.punkbands.com/lyrics/bands/deadmilkmen/beelze.htm)
STUART
...a few days after that,
i open up the mail
and there's a pamphlet in there,
from pueblo, colorado.
and it's addressed to bill jr.
and it's entitled,
"do you know what the queers
are doing to our soil?"
now stuart,
if you look at the soil around any
large u.s. city with a big underground homosexual population -
des moines, iowa, perfect example.
look at the soil around des moines, stuart.
you can't build on it,
you can't grow anything in it.
the government says it's due to poor farming.
but i know what's really going on, stuart.
i know it's the queers.
they're in it with the aliens.
they're building landing strips for gay martians.
i swear to god.
you know what stuart,
i like you.
you're not like the other people,
here in the trailer park.(Not the whole song lyrics, and it misses something out of context of the song itself. I highly recommend checking it out sometime.)
This song felt appropriate for this thread somehow.
