The thing I sorely miss is the highly progressive agenda of the Newt led House. Before Newt was neutered by the media, he was the best advocate of streamlining government and controlling spending. He was nowhere near perfect but in hindsight was probably doing things that were pragmatically best (balancing a budget in 7 years instead of 1).

Now where is the democrat plan so that we can compare and contrast methods? I am all for setting our eyes on the prize (fiscal responsiblity) once again. Ideally I would like to see competition between to parties to see who can balance it faster and with sounder economics.
