I was disappointed to learn that the research project "Gas Discharge Visualization to Assess Bioenergy for Medical Applications" dealt with photographing auras. I thought the researcher might be developing alternatives to the standard method of visualizing "gas discharges", lighting them.

Who says there is a difference. Doesn't a normal happy, healthy person have a blue "aura".

Isn't Gas Discharge Visualisation just a new, impressive, scientific-sounding name for Kirlian photography?

It's actually an old college fraternity gag where one discharges gas onto a lighted candle. Alcohol helps.
