A security hole in a fine Microsoft product? I find that a bit hard to swallow.

Whew, that's a relief. Because we all know everyone keeps their AV updated. IE is becoming a serious liability.
I think the reason this is getting so much press is because a few major sites (they won't say which ones) were compromised.

Mine updates itself daily. Transparent. When it can't, it warns me and tells me why.

YOU aren't the problem, as likely none of the regulars here are. It's Mr. and Ms. Klewliss Knoob who got a PC "for the kids" two years ago at Best Buy and thought it was the same as a television: plug it in, get it running and forget it. There are a lot more of them than us hanging on the 'net.
