What's the best hardware / software combo to take all my digi cam photos (mostly JPEG) and movies (mostly AVI) and compose them on a DVD, (slide / movie show kinda thing) so as to send to relatives who lack computers (and/or sufficient computer skills), but have DVD player?

I've only used Toast Titanium on a iMac (iLamp) with any success so far, but the organizational display of the images is, well, lacking.

I'd like to purchase a (probably USB) DVD writer and the software to do this on a Win XP machine.

Were you thinking of spending money? What's your stance on non-legit software?

I've always used Premiere, and it does the job just fine. I write using an internal IDE 4x DVD writer.

I've tried Adobe Premiere and Pinacle Studio 8 / Studio 9.

I found the Studio program to be the easier to use, and capable of doing everything I want.

Both the programs have a whole lot of fancy features that you never use after the first try - wipes, transitions and overlays that just annoy the hell out of everyone when they watch the finished DVDs, VCDs or whatever.
