View Full Version : Can Someone help me w/ Internet Explorer problem?

This is bugging me.

I’m having a problem with Internet Explorer I’ve never encountered before.

It’s happening on the machine I post from at work. It’s a PC running XP.

I cannot open a new window.

If I try, by menu or CRTL-N or right clicking a link and choosing ‘open in new window’ it just replaces the content in the current window. I can only open one window and that’s it and it is driving me crazy.

I’ve disabled ‘FreeSurfer’ so that’s not the problem and I’ve enable and/or disabled about every conceivable option in preferences that seems to even remotely be related but nothing seems to work.

I figure either someone will recognize this situation and offer a quick cure or at least I won’t feel so stupid when no one can.

I’d prefer to feel stupid and have it fixed, hehe.

Thanks.

Dunno if this is the issue or not.

Thanks, it sure seemed to fit the bill except I wasn't getting any error messages.

I tried it anyway but no cigar. :(

Thanks for responding anyway, it was worth a shot.

I guess I'll just have to keep plugging away at Microsoft support.

Try going to Tools->Internet Options -> Advanced Tab
and uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"

L.E.E.

Thanks but that doesn't seem to work either. I had already unchecked that but just to be sure I checked it, applied it, and then unchecked it and applied to make sure it got the message but the damn thing still refuses to open a new window, hehe.

Another annoying aspect is that if I do try to open a new window (which is now force of habit for me) not only does it not open a new window but the back button does not work.

grrrrr.

Thanks a lot for responding though, I do appreciate it.

:hb:

I don't suppose anyone knows Bill Gate's home phone number? ;)

Hold the phone! That did fix it!

I just closed the browser and reopened it and it's working fine now.

It was unchecked but I guess turning it on and then turning it off again got it set correctly for real.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it.

whew!

I guess that's why I read Helpdesk at www dot ubersoft dot net.

If you're still using IE, you still need help (mental).
