I was flitting about on Rip-Off Report when I found a listing for "psychics".

...
I called Rebecca and she answered the phone telling me to send a photo of the person, article of clothing and photo of us together along with $350 wired to a Nevada address. She gave me a name of her "Sister" to wire it to because she will be busy on my "Spell". I sent the money.
Well, in a few days, she could not be reached,I called again and was told by her son I am annoying her and she was busy. I finally was able to reach her and she said she found I was cursed and to remove thew curse I needed to send $350 dollars more for the special items she needed.

I told her I thought she was a fraud and I wanted my money back, she said she would put a bad spell on me.
I only lost $350, but there are many "psychics" who pray on those who are desperate and ask for wired money, you will never see or hear from these people again. I called the authorities and they said I have no proof.

I keep getting letters addressed to my Dad who died 2 years ago from this so called Psychic telling him this year will be his best and when I don't reply they keep sending letters asking why. I don't need to be reminded of my Dads death by a Phoney Psychic who doesn't even know he's passed away.... Some Psychic or what? STUPID RIPOFF!

The title on this one (http://badbusinessbureau.com/reports/ripoff80493.htm) is a bit amusing too. "...+ not a genuine psychic.."

And the really surprising thing? There's so few of these.

ETA: Whoops, should have had a link. (http://badbusinessbureau.com/results.asp?q1=1042&submit2=Search%21)

Oh no, wait... there's more.

Alternative Medicine (776) (http://badbusinessbureau.com/results.asp?q1=222&submit2=Search%21)

Astrologers and Psychics (http://badbusinessbureau.com/results.asp?q1=11&submit2=Search%21)

And many, many more...

I'll be damned.

You know I used to care about people being ripped off by these frauds.

But no longer.

Sometimes I even admire the fraudsters.

These IDIOTS who keep forking out money for this nonsense don’t deserve the money in the first place.

Most of these people don’t complain that Psychics are fraudulent .. JUST THE ONE THEY GOT…

They imply there are REAL ones out there.. these idiots NEVER learn.. I just wish I was dishonest enough to cash in on their stupidity !

I was thinking these same things while reading those complaints. And the really sad thing is that, from the sound of it, these hucksters are the ones who aren't even very good at it. These are not the Sylvia Brownes, but the also-rans. And yet these people were nevertheless totally taken in ("I really thought she would help me find a new job," etc.). Sheesh. It just goes to show that the psychic doesn't really need to do very much at all because the mark does everything for them.

It reminds me of the story I heard some time ago:

A man puts an ad in the newspaper, saying

SEND $1.00 TO THIS ADDRESS!

It gave an address, with NO promise of anything being sent to the sender. People sent the money, got nothing in return, and tried to sue, saying they were ripped off. The judge throws the suit out, saying that they had no right to sue, as they didn't have to send the money to the guy in the first place, seeing as he didn't say they'd get anything back.

If they 'know better', as some scammed people would have you believe, are we supposed to feel sorry for them when they do fall for something like this?

To care or not, difficult subject.
However, it is not stupidity but a lack of critical thinking and you are not born a critical thinker, you learn.
Plus, is could easily be your mother that was scammed, is she an idiot too?
