So much for the SCOTUS decision on Gitmo prisoners

NYT today:

The Justice Department said in a federal court filing on Friday that prisoners at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, who were seeking to file petitions challenging their detentions were not entitled to access to their lawyers to do so.

The department said the prisoners were not entitled to see their lawyers because they were foreigners held outside the jurisdiction of the United States.

The government's 30-page brief argues that despite the 6-to-3 Supreme Court ruling on June 28 that said Guantánamo prisoners could challenge their detentions in federal courts, the prisoners still do not enjoy the rights provided by the Constitution.Is this going back to the SCOTUS for a second round?

Absolutely it will. And they'd better get off their geriatric asses and make a clear ruling that makes their position absolutely clear, and tell the whitehouse and so-called 'Justice' department where to stick it, and how deep.

It's interesting to note that a U.S. Military base flies the U.S. flag and is soveriegn U.S. terrirory.

I guess if someone bombed Guantanamo, the U.S. would say it's "OK", because that's not really U.S. territory?

I'd like to know WTF the place is actually supposed to be for. They need all these marines and a military base to protect what? A military base. Kind of circular reasoning to me.
