View Full Version : Another poll on Iraq—for the undecided.

I saw a post from Denise earlier wherein she stated that she neither supports or opposes the looming war against Iraq. I’ve been in the same position. My opinion changes almost on an hourly basis.

I finally have decided that I support the war, but I still have deep concerns and find it very troubling. I am far from certain about my position.

I feel that most opinion polls, or even simple discussions, don’t account for this. Are there a lot of people who can’t decide, or who are very doubtful?

The reasons for your position are being spelled out on numerous other threads. We don’t need to get into it here. But I am curious whether people have been changing their minds, or if there are scenarios that they can think of that might make them change their minds.

Who else has had trouble making up their minds?

I'm decided.

I'm not supposed to vote here, right?

In my opinion, that's the way someone who supports a war should feel.

I don't have trouble making up my mind, but I am very frustrated by the rhetoric that the extremists on both sides resort to. I think the war will be beneficial to the Iraqi people in the long run, but I also think that this is precisely the wrong time for it: I don't trust our government's rationale for attacking or its intentions for a post-war Iraq, our economy is in the toilet, most of the world now considers us a rogue imperialist nation, the U.N. has been rendered completely useless as a result of the situation, etc.

So, I oppose the war. Pro-war types call me an "appeaser," although I've proposed no appeasement -- I simply think that the self-defense argument can't be justified unless there is proof of an imminent attack on our country. If such proof actually existed, it would be all over the news, day and night, instead of just Bush hoping that saying "Iraq" and "September 11th" in the same paragraph will create some kind of link between them.

Sorry- I'd like everyone to vote. I just wanted to take into account the people who had not decided.

I'll see about changing the subject line.

Same here. I'm looking forward to the end result but I think the White House handled the situation poorly.

I guessing that even if WMD are discoverd, the rest of the world will still be bitter towards the US because of how things went down.
Youll never hear a "you were right" from France and the others.

Okay, then.

A written description of all of the incidents in which any nation has voluntarily told another "you were right" could probably fit on the back of a postcard.
