Pearls Before Swine, (http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/pearls/archive/pearls-20040801.html)Sunday, August 1.

Power, money, persuasion, supplication, persecution -- these can lift at a colossal humbug -- push it a little -- weaken it a little over the course of a century; but only laughter can blow it to rags and atoms at a blast. Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand. (Mark Twain - The Mysterious Stranger)

We need more of this.

I took a trip downtown the other day, and on the way back I took the subway home. On the subway there were three kids, perhaps 12-14 years of age. They were discussing, among other things, magicians, like the guy the got frozen in to a block of ice, and how the magicians mange to do all those tricks. I was thinking to myself that thats crictical thinking! And I was even more impressend when they started to discuss the "crossing over" show, which runs on a commercial channel here in Sweden. They thought it sucked bigtime! They couldn't stand the guy, and the were totally convinced it was a fraud and a hoax and that the audience was probably in on it.

There really still is hope for the future, when att least some young people are capable of real critical thinking!
