The comedy never ceases...

Sudan: Israel supporting Darfur rebels - Aug. 8 (UPI) (http://interestalert.com/brand/siteia.shtml?Story=st/sn/08080000aaa01403.upi&Sys=siteia&Fid=WORLDNEW&Type=News&Filter=World%20News) CAIRO, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Sudanese government Sunday accused Israel of supporting rebels in the troubled Darfur region in western Sudan. Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail told reporters in Cairo his government had "information that confirms media reports of Israeli support." Ismail, who is taking part in an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers to discuss the Darfur crisis, said he was "sure the next few days will reveal a lot of Israeli contacts with the rebels."Of course at a meeting of of Arab foreign ministers it suddenly comes to light that "Israel" is supporting the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice and Equality Movement. After all the "rebels" fighting against Sudanese genocide could not actually be fighting against Sudanese genocide, it's the evil joooooooze who are behind it all.... :rolleyes:

Meanwhile back on Earth;

U.N. Blames Sudan for Civilian Atrocities - Fri Aug 6, 3:11 PM ET (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=535&ncid=535&e=8&u=/ap/20040806/ap_on_re_mi_ea/sudan_report_3) GENEVA - A top U.N. human rights investigator Friday released a scathing report that blames the Sudanese government for atrocities against its civilians in the Darfur region and says "millions of civilians" could die.

"It is beyond doubt that the Government of the Sudan is responsible for extrajudicial and summary executions of large numbers of people over the last several months in the Darfur region, as well as in the Shilook Kingdom in Upper Nile State," said Asma Jahangir, the U.N. investigator on executions, in a report based on a 13-day visit to the region in June.
