View Full Version : The news you missed this week

Story #1

The cover page of the latest "The Fairfield Weekly", a free, "independent" (i.e., loony left) newspaper distributed in Connecticut, proclaims (without a trace of irony or self-awareness):

"PROTECT DEMOCRACY--A HOW-TO GUIDE ON CRASHING THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION".

Story #2

You might have heard the tearful apology of NJ's governor this week for having an affair with a young man. The young man in question, Golan Cipel, is an israeli...

...wait for it...

...you know it's coming...

...on Al Jazeera's web site, in a regular section they have called "CONSPIRACY THEORY", they discovered the truth of the matter: an "investigative reporter" found out that the young israeli is, in reality, a "junior Mossad officer" (aren't they all?).

Of course, the whole thing is part of a convoluted plot to "contain New Jersey's barely-concealed anger" at the "fact" that the Mossad knew of 9/11 in advance and didn't tell them, part of the jewi-- *cough*, *cough*--israeli plot to get Bush to remove Hussein and the Taliban.

Just think: if it wasn't for these braves "independent media outlets" not under the control of "multinational corporations", we might have missed these stories.

We would never learn how to protect democracy by not letting people we disagree with hold a political convention, or figure out that the homosexual affair of a governor is part of an international jewish conspiracy.

For shame.

Odd..I just searched AlJazeera's site at english.aljazeera.net (http://english.aljazeera.net), did a cursory look at the Arabic version (www.aljazeera.net (http://www.aljazeera.net)), and couldn't find the story. You wouldn't happen to have a link to it, would you?

You're probably late by a few days. This column was reported (with all the details) in the latest The Weekly Standard, so it probably refers to stuff that was on al Jazeera's web page about a week to two weeks ago.

Of course, since The Weekly Standard is right-wing, it surely just made the whole thing up to smear the brave, objective, and not-at-all-conspiracy-oriented bunch at al Jazeera.

You read that crap?

Weekly Standard. Any more stories about drug dealer Bill Clinton killing Vince Foster in Hillary's apartment?

I LOVE those ones!

I fail to see why it's any more "crap" than, say, the Village Voice or The Nation...

So far as I know, it never published anything like that. In fact, it often makes fun of such conspiracy theories.

The problem is (from your point of view) is that it also makes fun of Michael Moore's conspiracy theories...

*shrug* I suppose it's possible, I tried a date search and their servlet crapped out.

But I don't recall ever having seen a "Conspiracy Theory" section of their site.
