I find it very interesting that Iraqi government (or military, whoever does the talk on TV) is always making a point how this war will not be as easy to win for US as the US makes it seem. They always have to point out that this will be a long, deadly battle and so on, that US soldiers are "marching into death". The only reason for this I can think of is that they're hoping to discourage and scare US soldiers. But obviously, this is not working as it is so blatantly transparent. Anyway, my point is, these kind of statements only help to show how "evil" Saddam's regime is. Anti-war crowd can protest all they want asking for diplomatic measures, but a statement like this from Iraq sets the hopes for diplomatic solution quite a few steps back. I can't believe Iraq is digging their own grave like this. I know that Saddam is a bad guy, but I can't believe that he is also this stupid.
P.S. I realize that it is too late to post this, seeing how we are definitely going to war now, but this is a thought that I had during last year or so, and I thought it was interesting.
