View Full Version : God Bless You John Lennon, Rest In Peace

In Honor of John Lennon's Birthday (this day of October 9, 2004)
Imagine an always and in all ways good and immutable God that is always and in all ways Good to itself.
And imagine that always and in all ways good God as being mute as well as immutable. And thus, never ever talking to us, just ever always and in all ways doing its own thing.
And imagine us always and in all ways doing our own thing. I.e., imagine that whether or not we realize it, no matter why and why not we are doing what we are doing and not doing, we are always and in all ways doing our own thing.
And now imagine such a God always and in all ways letting us do and not do what we are always and in all ways doing and not doing. And then imagine some of the things that we are doing working out well and some of the things we are doing working out ill. And then imagine some of the things we are not doing working out well and some of the things that we are not doing working out ill.
That kind of good God gives us the opportunity to walk into our lives and walk through our lives until we walk out of our lives. That kind of God gives us the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from mistakes and ignore mistakes and forget mistakes; just as that kind of God gives us the opportunity to succeed, and to learn from our successes, and to raise high our successes, and to never forget our successes.
What more ought we ask of ourselves and ask of such a good and immutable -- and mute -- God if there is such a God? An always and in always good and immutable God that is always and in all ways Good to itself. Especially when we are so often bad to ourselves and to those who are both like and different from ourselves?
IMAGINE = IGI [In God's Image] + AMEN
thanks, henry!

He's not resting, he's still writing songs. (http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46410)

I imagine John reading the OP, shrugging his shoulders and saying "whatever mate, to each his own."

I imagine Lennon would be pretty ticked off at you for perverting his song. Remember what he said? (emphasis mine)
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
Nowhere below us
Above only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
This is a song in praise of atheism, BTT, which is just the opposite of how you have presented it. You sully the memory of Lennon by trying to turn it into a religious song. But don't worry, I won't consign you to hell for it. John wouldn't want that.

Tricky, you are such a twit. I never said there is a heaven.
BTW, if you look at some of the new links now in http://theometry.org/FUQ.htm (particularly the ones for Bruce McLennan) you will see what I AM saying exists.
Regards, your fellow twit. BTW2, the biggest difference between us is that I know I am a twit. :-)

My apologies. I didn't realize it was supposed to be comedy. It reads just like 1inChrist's stuff.

Well I read the dialogue/play on the main page of the link you included. Pretty rambling, and the main joke was the FUQ acronym/pun.
Maybe it plays better on stage.

Boy, am I glad I read the whole thread before posting. I didn’t catch it as humor either and damn near made a fool of myself (again) by posting something snide.
Remember kids, always look both ways before posting to any thread.

John Lennon was all right before the Beatles broke up, but then something happened. For some reason I do not like the majority of his solo songs. In fact, the only one that comes to mind that I like is Instant Karma. The rest of them - feh. I change the station when Imagine comes on. I don't know why, I just don't like it.

As in, " Yoko?"
"Oh, NO!" :-)
BTW these are the links I was point you to (plus an interesting one about NLP and "The Matrix" via the FUQ page...
[Note: see Hall's http://www.neurosemantics.com/Neuro-Semantics/7-Matrices_files/frame.htm for an excellent NLP-oriented explanation of how your Matrix is always having its way with you with the best of intentions, but not always with the results you most desire. And then contrast the way your Matrix works within you within the context of what Heraclitus calls the "Hieros"/"Sacred Fire". SEE ALSO http://www.cs.utk.edu/~mclennan/research.html for some of the most in-sightful commentaries about emergent computationism, computational theories of intelligence in AI, and cognitive science, etc. on the Web!]

What humor? I am completely serious. Well, yes and no. at least about the both ways "coming" and "going" parts. In any case, can't you try to look under the humorous covers of this thread and see all of the seriousness? God in heavin', man, don't hold back your snide remarks when they will undoubtedly add to this thread!

An old saying from the ABHWCS" A/K/A, the Ancient Brotherhood of Hood-Winkers and Other Cognitive Sorts: "If you read more carefully what is written, you shall know more about what is being said and not being said."
For example, I said, "God in heavin' " NOT "heaven". A VERY big difference. And actually both a funny and serious difference. :-)
