After approx 36 hours of war:
19 of our lads killed in helicopter crashes.
1 US marine KIA.
Baghdad bombed
Basra surrounded
Oil fields safe
Southern Iraq taken
Turkey invades 'Kurdistan'
Iraqis not surrendereding in huge numbers, stiffer resistance than expected.
We have been drawn into FIBUA in one town.
Iraq reports 207 civvy casualties. (for those who say this war will cause 500,000 Iraqi casualties, at this rate the war will have to go on for 3 years).
Is it all going pear-shaped? Is everything going according to plan?
I think its too early to say but I think it was a mistake to forgo the prolonged intensive air-campaign for political reasons as the will of the Iraqis hasnt been undermined.
I predict this will result in more dead British and American lads than need be.
