Hi. My name is Kevin Emerson. I will be demonstrating a form of ESP - telepathy. An actual sending of words or phrases to another person's mind. (really) This person will be sitting or standing 10-20 feet away from me. I will either...a) Use apre-memorized list of words and phrases, then send one or more to participant, who will write out what he hears - then a MATCH to list. and/or...b) any content of words to two people who will write out what they hear, then both MATCH. Of course no matches would be no "send". Also, a sealed list or third party examine. as long as other person doesn't know.

I think we can all understand this claim despite the syntax problems in this claim letter. I informed the applicant of the specifics regarding the standard test for such claims, the need for videotaping, etc. I received the following reply:

hello--yes i received your letter--this is looking good. MY name is kevin emerson-- i have several questions here's my first list.----
1--- can i get a copy of videotape after the intial test---
2---- and i have this great thing with a pseudonym-like an author--i would greatly want to use something---so that can be used on the tape,etc. but maybe you having some other info like my ss number,etc. etc. meaning if used in other mediums as well.
3-- and it really has to be here in philadelphia.
4-- and by the letter, i would and need to be able to use one person of your crew as a recipient. affirm--
i want, of course to set this up as soon as possible, so let's get this together------ thanks.....

Hello Kevin,
I will try to answer your questions:
1-Yes, you can get a copy of the videotaped test for a small fee (costs only). You may also have a friend present to videotape the proceedings on your own.
2-None of the Challenge rules can be circumvented. You must use your real name. Following testing, you may of course do as you wish.
3-We do have an affiliate in Philadelphia (PhACT) with whom I am hoping we can coordinate testing.
4-JREF does NOT participate in the actual testing procedure. We only act as observers. You need to provide your own "recipient", or enlist one from the group providing the actual testing, which I am sure would not present a problem. JREF's lack of direct involvement will insure absolute impartiality in the test procedure, which I am sure you would want.
Please contact PhACT (c/o ROY HAUPT) by sending a cover letter explaining who you are and that you are writing to them as per JREF's instructions, along with a copy of your claim letter, and your email address and phone number. Then please be patient for a reply. In my experience, this process does not move as quickly as we would all wish.
I will email Mr. Haupt from here to advise him of the forthcoming communication from you. Please "cc" me on all the correspondence you share with him.
