What is it about a war that brings out the jackass in people?
1. The Punks who scribbled "America is Evil" on a Patton memorial
2. The SanFran "protestors"
3. The Turkish Military
4. Chirac (or as I call him Dr. No)
5. The dweeb in Alabama who burned the Iraqi flag as a counter-protest
I hate to point this out but its time to start acting like grownups. There is a strain of juvenile behavior in both pro and anti-war camps that cheapens the sentiment on both sides.

Well, to answer number 2: As a SF Bay Area resident who lives close enough to San Francisco AND Berkeley to know, the "Jackasses" have always been here. They're just waiting for the next thing to scream about. California is where the "professional" protestors and their lawyers are from (Sierra Club). It ain't called the "left coast" for nothing.
Please save our state from the Dems who are mashing our economy into the ground! Berkeley even offers a class on Tupac Shakur! The link to this story is dead, but is still "cached" on Google...search "berkeley Tupac"
Try This (http://216.239.53.100/search?q=cache:acsDu2QjzbUC:site35314.dellhost.com/tuth/article/article3.html+berkeley+tupac&hl=en&ie=UTF-8)
History '98: Poetry & History of Tupac Shakur." "Tupac was a historian of our time, and his poems and raps reflect that," said UC Berkeley's Arvand Elihu, the course's creator, who said he compares Shakur with Bob Dylan. "They're both great poets who eloquently represented their respective generations." The two-unit course is designed to outline the connections between the writings of Shakur and the society in which he lived.
We are so F'n doomed...somebody help! ;)

There is never a shortage of jackasses!
And with the media being so good and so fast at reporting events, it can be all too easy for the jackass to become known to millions within a matter of minutes.
In any case, there have always been jackasses, there always will be jackasses: it is just part of being a flawed human.

Just look at Michael Moore and Martin Sheen and others in Hollyweird if you want some good examples of this.
