Why was this claim accepted?
Having prior information about a pre-recorded program that is likely shown earlier on the east coast does not sound particularly paranormal to me.

I agree that this appears particularly succeptible to trickery. But I think you would agree that, if genuine, this ability would qualify as paranormal.
It would be fairly easy to keep the person from getting foreknowledge from someone on the East Coast; just keep him away from phones, email, etc. for the day or so before the test. It would be much harder to check that he didn't have insider knowledge from the shooting of the TV show.

I find TV very predictable too.

Does anyone know if it's random to begin with? Do they (Jeopardy) not follow a pattern for Daily Double placement?

The show is pre-recorded with many people taking part in the taping. It would be practically impossible to gauarantee that he has not received information in advance.
Now, if he can do the same thing with with a facsimlie of the Jeopardy board and the daily doubles randomly selected in a double-blind test, that would be paranormal, but he did not make that claim.

This show is on two different stations in this area. Since the Monday show on one station is preempted by Football during the NFL season, the programs are day behind on this station. I sometimes amaze my friends by watching the Monday show on the other station, then watching the same show on Tuesday on the first station and answering every question...

If there were a pattern beyond that, I think the contestants would be exploiting it by now, and not come across it in the usual run-down-the-category pattern almost all contestants follow.
