Article on Matthew Manning who was a wonderful worker for spirit, also a talented healer and psychokineticist. One of the most talented psychics since DD Home and Nina Kulagina.

I see the references to the article include no less than four books by... Matthew Manning. The claims of a self-styled psychic, well-established facts, well, tomayto, tomahto...
And then jambo falls for it. Well, he would.

Well this guy is no stranger to having himself tested and has all manner of cool abilities, so, I wonder why he isn't applying for the million.
Oh wait, do I hear the words "He doesn't want to - he's fed up of tests" marching towards this conversation with depressing inevitability?
Honestly his whole story sounds like a mish-mash of other stories I've heard many times - the blank tape (why do these interviewers never try a short test recording like most proper journalists actually do in real life?), the trip to India, the mystical Himalayan experience, the attention of the Security Services, Uri-Geller like powers, Nina-like powers, killing cancer cells, moving objects...
Really, he ought to be the most famous person in the world.
Jambo this is a foolish one even by your ludicrous standards.

Manning convinced Dr.A.R.G.Owen of his PK abilities back in the seventies. Of course, Dr.Owen was similarly impressed by Uri Geller.

Three. Two of them Encyclopaedias of the Paranormal (not first-hand sources) and one by Colin Wilson, who also fell for Geller. And four by the man himself, uncritically precis-ed.
And this you find "IRREFUTABLE". None of those sources is worth anything.

He was tested by lots of scientists not just Wilson and Owen.

He's perfectly entitled to turn down further tests ... would you not get fed up being used as a lab rat. PK tests were so exhaustive that they seriously damaged the health of psychics and mediums who took them eg Nina Kulagina.

There are inconsistencies at the link for instance it says in 1977 Manning got tired of scientists and went to India for enlightenment but already in 1980 he is in New Zealand and sometime or other spent five years being tested in Texas, California, London, it all seems strange since he was supposedly tired of tests.
One does not go to India and find enlightenment in two or three years and it seems he did not give up the "cymbals and brass".

Subsequent quote by Jambo:

Yay! Go me and my psychic ability!
Why would he not be tested doing things he is currently doing anyway? And BTW nice use of the old emotive 'lab rat' reference.
It doesn't apply to two tests to win a million ollars of course, but I guess you only accept things you are told by unreferenced, unscientific and rather ludicrous websites.
Here's a thought for you Jambo - maybe Matthew Manning is a lar and a fraud. How about that for a wild possibility for you to get your mind round?
Or does any and every ludicrous claim automatically have your total and unquestioning belief?
Oh sorry, I forgot who I was speaking to there for a second.
Have you by any chance placed a rather expensive bid for a cheese sandwich recently?

It's just a shame that this "most talented psychic" doesn't give us all a most impressive demonstration of his abilities instead of the lame performances he usually subjects us to during his frequent appearances on UK TV.

You should also avoid people who wear earth-tone clothing and drive Volvos. They're the worst.

READ the article. Did. Very funny. For instance:
That night Matthew’s parents surrounded the tankard with a ring of talcum powder. Next morning the tankard was again found on the floor, but the powder ring was undisturbed. It must therefore have risen vertically off the shelf. Soon other objects began to mysteriously move around the house, and the family began to get seriously worried about what they should do. Putting talc powder around it is what EVERY parent does when things fall to the floor, riiight??
The rest of it sounds thoroughly fictional, too. Even without the paranormal parts.
Color me unimpressed.
Well, only wanted to get my post count to 4000 anyhow :D.
