Israeli troops accused of corpse abuse
Friday 19 November 2004, 14:37 Makka Time, 11:37 GMT
The Israeli army has launched an investigation into photographs apparently showing soldiers posing next to the bodies of dead Palestinians.
One such picture, published in the mass-selling Yediot Aharonot Israeli daily, shows a soldier pointing his weapon at a corpse while pressing his foot into the half-naked body.
Christ, this is the "news" outlet that never met a corpse abusing Arab that they didn't like. Unbelieveable.

So Al Jazeera is biased in favor of corpse abusing Arabs over corpse abusing Israelis?
You can't show evidence for that.

Well, the ratio is about 50:1 Arab:Jew. The issue here is that for some reason they appear to disapprove of the corpse abuse. I really thought that they liked it.

Er, from the first paragraph of the article in question:
The Israeli army has launched an investigation into photographs apparently showing soldiers posing next to the bodies of dead Palestinians.
Thus, it is Israel, not Al-jazeera or Arabs, who is showing so much concern over this incident.
So please expalin what you mean by the Al-jazeera Irony Meter being busted.

Clearly Al-Jazeera is showing concern by running the story. Even when they don't editorialize, news media still influences public opinion by deciding what stories to run.
In this case, contrasting these allegations of corpse abuse with other instances where corpses were ripped to shreds and/or displayed as part of a celebration is Ed's editorializing. Chances are if Israel had never launched an investigation, there would have been no story to make Al-Jazeera.

Very true!

You may be right. If Israel had not made it an issue, then possibly no one, including Al-Jazeera would have even mentioned it.
However, I would think that if Israel would have not made it an issue, then Al-Jazeera would have had headlines like "Israel Refuses to Investigate the Illegall Killing of a Muslim".

I find it odd that whilst Al Jazeera is being criticised, no one has found fit to comment on the actual alleged abuse itself. I personally find this alleged abuse and all other similar acts highly distasteful.

If I want to see the American viewpoint on the world, I go to CNN or other American new sources.

Yes, I noticed that too!
It rather reminds me of the other thread involving the US Marine who killed the wounded, unarmed insurgent who was lying in mosque for moving while alive. I noticed that the people who are so intent on providing justification for what the Marine did that they have neglected to realize just how much future violence will be incited by what the Marine did regardless of the justifications used to defend it.

Please. Playing team sports with body parts appears to be a pasttime over there with no particular outrage on anyones part. Perhaps people here are simply reveling in diversity and trying to do the Moslem thing. Surely you are not suggesting that there are two sets of rules, are you?

And had he died because of carelessness the Moslem world would have given him or us credit for our sensitivity? Or would they have thought "schmuck"?[/QUOTE]

You've just helped to reinforce my faith in humanity a touch:)
Whether playing football with body parts is a hobby over there or not, it doesn't mean that we should get blase about it. I guess if it had been an American head, some people in this forum would still be venting spleen about it.

Israeli Officer Charged in Death of Palestinian Girl
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli army captain accused of riddling a 13-year-old Palestinian girl's body with bullets after his unit killed her was charged on Tuesday with conduct unbecoming an officer and illegal discharge of a weapon.
Military police investigating the Oct. 5 killing of Iman al-Hams in the southern Gaza Strip arrested the company commander three weeks ago after finding his earlier account of the incident was false, the army said.
Hams was shot some 20 times near an army outpost on her way to school in Rafah, a town on Gaza's border with Egypt that has seen frequent violence during a 4-year-old Palestinian uprising.
...
Wow! A thirteen year old girl shot 20 times with a machine gun then the officer who shot her lied about it; and yet there are some here on JREF who wonder why Al-Jazerra would note an event such as this.
Wow again!

"Whatever will these evil muslims think of next. They're evil, I tell you EVIL."
I know, and not only that, we are under an existential threat from them...they are going to overwhelm us with their dark forces...although no one seems to know how yet.
I mean, just today an "unnamed source" has revealed that "the authorities" have foiled a dastardly 9/11 type attack on Canary Warf and Heathrow!
Of course, this disclosure has nothing to do with the Government`s unveiling of tough new law-and-order and anti-terrorist bills in tomorrow's Queen's Speech!
Well, did you ever? Next July we collide with Mars!
Current nuclear warhead standings (approximate figures, conservative ones too probably)
UK 200
France 350
USA 10,000?
Russian Fed 10,000?
Israel 75-200?
India 60-120
China 390
Total approx:21,000
ENTIRE MOSLEM WORLD: A few in Pakistan
Be afraid, be very afraid

The funny thing so far about this supposedly foiled attack is that no one has said anything about how far the plot had gotten. Are we talking about the security boys nabbing a couple of people as they climbed on board a plane, or a few chaps with Arabic looks being arrested who had a few pipe dreams about levelling Canary Wharf? I'd like to know where we stand with this.

I read aljazeera occaisionally. I haven't seen evidence of this. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, because I have probably read them 10 times in the last year, but based on what I have read, I doubt this is accurate.
Can you come up with an example of a "corpse abusing Arab" that they did like?
I will grant that they probably show a bit more concern about corpse abuse when it is committed by Israelis, but do they really "like" corpse abusing Arabs?
