View Full Version : Wifi router / firewall clash?

I swapped my Zoom X4 adsl router modem for a Linksys G54 wifi one a week or so back, so I can use the new laptop in bed. (I've gained 8 pounds already and the place is getting smelly, but hey, that's technological advancement for you.)
A more significant problem is that I have far more difficulty getting past the VCOM Systemsuite Software Firewall with the new R.M. I frequently have to disable the firewall to get online at all.
Anyone have an idea why this might be?

Are there no clues in the firewall log?

Did you set all Your permissions for access in the firewall? Don't know the particular one you mention but I've had the same prob.

Nothing at all in the log- which is worrying in itself.
Permissions remain as before. The firewall has not changed- only the hardware- the router modem itself. The oddity is that the problem is erratic- sometimes either IE or Firefox log on without problems, other times not. I'll keep experimenting.

I went back to the firewall permissions, reset all to "allow", went online, logged off and reset the permissions as before. The logon problems have largely (though not quite all) gone.
When all else fails. Start over and do it all again.
Thanks, guys.
