View Full Version : Question for Christians - #6

It seems that Christians are urged to pray for favors, for relief of suffering, etc. Why does God require this? Why doesn't He just grant the relief, etc? And some prayers are answered, apparently, while others are not - does God pick and choose? Why?

As far as I know God does not require this, nor is it encouraged by the teachings (thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God). For some it gives comfort and couldn't hurt to give a shout out.

While I'm a Christian, I have rejected most organized religion. I came to an understanding with my God where, unlike somepeople I pray to him when I don't need anything. Just a chat about the days events, emphasizing the good, since I'm sure he hears a lot of bad news. He doesn't answer, but it gives me some comfort knowing I might be making his day a little brighter. In return I get to sleep in late and watch Football on Sunday.

I am not a Theologian so don't engage me in some kind of debate over the existence or non-existence of God. I have my beliefs and pretty much keep to myself, and don't bother anyone. I do have a different interpretation of the Bible than some, and do not believe that those who are not Christians are automatically evil. I also am tired of people who use the Bible as an excuse to be pissy towards others. For me one of the central messages of the Bible is tolerance and forgiveness of others.

I'm sorry, I'm rambling. But some people proporting to be messengers of God are so full of crap I want to scream. They are just petty dictators who prey upon others beliefs.

Do you think God changes his mind? (Ooops.. Is that question #7 )
