View Full Version : Scott Ritter Says Iraq Will Defeat US In War

Scott Ritter, in an apparent deliberate unision with Saddam Hussein's propaganda machine, claims that the United States will lose the war against Iraq (http://www.spacewar.com/2003/030326133943.wdmzmseg.html).
Sit back and watch Scotty. Iraq is going down.

Ritter: "Oh, I'm afraid the defensive shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive..." ??

I read Scotty's first book,...it was a 300 page narrative of why we should go to war against Saddam. A very good read. I wondered later what turned Ritter against the US. Apparently he only turned on the US after he was arrested for attempting to lure a 14 year old girl into meeting him for sex.
So I guess being outed as an internet pedophile has a way of changing one's perspective. As the father of two young girls I can hardly give voice to the amount of disgust I feel for Mr. Ritter.

I'll take that bet. What kind of odds is he giving? I'll even spot him two armored divisions on the spread.

"Every time we confront Iraqi troops we may win some tactical battles, as we did for ten years in Vietnam but we will not be able to win this war, which in my opinion is already lost," Ritter added.
Apparently Ritter is using "lose" in a different way than most people do.

I have nothing here but conjecture, but does anyone think or have reports that the Iraqi footsoldier sees the sand storms as a sign that Allah is trying to help them?
I mean, I am sure that the reality of the foxhole is just as religiously moving in the nihlist direction as it might be towards the religious, but what hope could these dudes have beyond the "hand of god"?

Who cares what he says. His stock has gone downhill since "Threes Company" was cancled.

I would argue that his decline began even earlier than that, when Don Knotts was recast in the Mr. Roper role and Suzanne Sommers thought she was too good for the show.

Hey JK
I tried to click on your link above. When I did, I got this notice:
This article has been removed after a series of violent email attacks against our company. These all appear to have originated from a right wing news site known as WorldNetDaily.com.
My media company has no opinion one way or the other on this issue and merely reports the news from a very broad base of sources so people can make their own decisions on what they think.
To attack news organizations for publishing information the reader might not agree with flys in the face of everything that this war is supposed to be about.
When we publish a report from a DoD spokesman we are not attacked on mass by opponents of the war, but the minute we publish something that is not favourable to those supporting the war we are subjected to vicious attacks questioning our loyalty.

Yes. In the 'unfalsifiable' way.

Nah, Ritter himself hasn't really declined. Three's Company certainly did, but Ritter is still a pretty funny guy.
The best thing about him is that he is able to make fun of himself, and especially his TC days. They basically had a spoof of TC on his new show, where he was playing the equivalent of Mr Roper.
He also spoofed it in his movie with Pam Dawber.

I got the same thing. And I noticed that JK has used WorldNetDaily.
Coincidence? ;)
Not that the spacewar site doesn't strike me as a top of the line news organization, either. "flys in the face" "attacked on mass by opponents" :)

I think Hussein is hoping for the same thing.
[all that follows is just opinion]
A good portion of the world has the opinion that if the US sustains enough losses in battle, the public will demand that it recall its troops. Essentially, Hussein (or whomever is still in power) wants to "win" by killing a few hundred of our troops - regardless of the losses - and/or delay the finish of this.
If he can survive until summer, he thinks that the heat may well force us to stop the fighting, and that lull will be used to try and turn world and popular opinion at home against the US. The longer this goes, the more it will be seen as a propaganda loss for the US.
At the same time, if he manages to kill a few hundred of our troops, he believes that the US support for the war effort will falter and that they will demand the return of our troops.
It is essentially what I feared in Kosovo -- I was hesitant about sending in troops not because I doubted the evils being perpetrated, but because I felt that once either side decided to get rid of us (i.e., once they had enough time to rebuild and thought they had a superior position), all they'd have to do was figure out a way to kill a few hundred of us and have our population screaming to "bring our boys (and girls) home."
I am very glad that this did not come to pass, and I certainly hope that no part of that scenario happens this time.

Wow, I clicked on the link I made and got the same strange message. I guess people didn't like Scott Ritter's opinion that the US would not win the war against Iraq.
There was an article about Ritter there before tho.

OK, I found the article in another country lol.
Here it is uncut and uncensored (http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?click_id=3&art_id=qw1048692601528B262&set_id=1) and ripped from the commie ANC South African news service.

Only if he ( Allah ) also gave them and their equipment, the ability to function better than the coalition, under the same conditions...
Otherwise, if they consider a delay of the inevitable, a blessing, I suppose we could allow for that.
Allah is great. Allah is good.

except that they are more used to them than the US. comments from the troops seemed to be in the 'shock and awe' range. one of the ambushes was set up during a dust storm. the US will be also affected more by the sand, as they have more sensitive equipment.
