WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A growing number of scientists say President Bush's administration is distorting the scientific advisory process by appointing conservative ideologues to panels that are supposed to be impartial.

They fear the appointments are politically motivated and meant to delay decision-making affecting controversial areas such as the environment, abortion and workplace safety.

This is exactly why the government shouldn't be involved in this. It's not like we need the government to advance science. The last thing government is going to be is impartial and nonpolitical.

Where's the beef? This article sites one person who was withdrawn. Also, the article uses the term "scientists" ambiguously which implies that they want people to think "all scientists" versus the one they quote.
