I don't know where this topic belongs, and I haven't seen anyone else post about it yet, so I'll just put it here (I would think it qualifies as a current event...).
Randi was the subject of a joke on tonight's "Weekend Update" segment of Saturday Night Live! I'm quoting from memory, but it went something like this - Tina Fey (with little picture of Randi in the corner of the screen): Magician James "The Amazing" Randi is offering $1 Million to anyone who can prove they are psychic. Of course, the real question is where a magician named "The Amazing Randi" would get a million dollars.
As they say, any publicity is good publicity. I got a kick out of it anyway. :-)

My recollection was more like "The Amazing Randi has offered one illion dollars to anyone who can prove the existance of the supernatural. What I find supernatural is a magician named The Amazing Randi getting a million dollars in the first place". They found a picture that struck me as unflattering, and they presented it as some sort of new development.

Hehehehe...
It was probably portrayed as a new development due to the article on cnn.com last week (link (http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/science/12/06/supernatural.skeptic.reut/index.html) for those that didn't see it).
Much as I love Randi and the work he does, why he picked "The Amazing Randi" as a stage name is a bit of a mystery to me. Especially when "The Amazing Zwinge" would have sounded so much cooler. :D

I am afraid I am guilty. I used "The Amazing Zwinge" as a stage name long before Randi came on the scene.
This is a pic of me doing my famous "Coming and Going" boffo signature bit.
Hope this helps.

I found it really weird they were doing a straight-forward Randi Million Dollar Challenge joke as if it was news. Very odd.

Maybe Julia Sweeney could send a note...
