What I want to know is, how did he first realize his paranormal ability? And why does the dog have to be there?

Just so I know I'm not missing anything, his dog is eating it, right?

Dogs eat feces.

Yes, I know dogs eat feces. Doesn't he realize the dog is doing it?
If he has the paranormal ability, he shouldn't need the dog.

I think he's either delusional or just trying to scam the JREF.

I lean towards the second option, given the tone of his second email. How exactly is one supposed to know the racial identity of a person when the contact is through email alone?

I think it's a joke. Even his name sounds like a pun.

I was going to make some really bad, scatalogical jokes about this claim, but I realise they'd... (wait for it...) fall foul of the JREF rules.
:p

Screw it. Anyone can qualify. Bring the dog, bring the poop...I imagine a JREF qulified tester can find a toilet and video recorder (costs bilable to applicant).
Magic dog locked in room with poop in toilet. Videotape dog and poop in toilet. Magic dog dosn't touch poop and toilet doesn't flush--we've got a prelim winner. Simple. Just do it. Simple protocol--simple test. Just do it.
Makes as much sense to test this as many other JREF claims.

Better yet, propose this and I'll bet he'll back down if it's not just a joke.
Same as you described, plus: toilets flush mechanism is disabled and the dog wears a muzzle.

How can you people possibly think this is anything but a joke?
How much more obvious could it be?

Tie'r own shoelaces Tyrone Shoelaces was the central character in the Cheech & Chong track titled "Basketball Jones." This is from ~1975 I think. I can quote you pretty much the whole track, still.

Tie'r own shoelaces But it appears to be KRAMER's pun/reference to Cheech and Chong. "Tyrone Shoelace" is the name he gave to the thread; I don't see it anywhere else.
I still think the challenge is a joke, though. Why would someone lock his dog up in the bathroom with a toilet full of feces in the first place? Assuming he did it by accident the first time, why wouldn't his reaction be, on discovering the mysterious fecal disappearance, "Oh, jeeze, Rex, did you eat all that?" Or, "Wow, Rex, you flushed the toilet yourself?"

It's obviously a joke.Either that or the guy has some mental problems.
Notice how the guy keeps daring him to tell him how the fecal matter dissappears...
It seems like with all of the people with magical supernatural powers, the applicants would be flooding in day after day after day,But it takes weeks just for a new one to appear..and THIS is what we get?? pfft

Well, on the plus side, even if Kramer and the JREF just turn this one down flat for being stupid, I can't see too much flak from the believer forums or websites.
"Proof that James Randi's challenge is bogus!
Yesterday James Randi refused to test an applicant for his famous $1 million dollar challenge.
Mr Shoelace offered to demonstrate the perfectly reasonable claim of remote feces removal aided by his dog and for some reason the James Randi foundation.... [fades away to embarassed incoherent mumbling as they realise how stupid what they are saying sounds]"
The JREF should waste no more time on Mr Tyrone 'Is it cos I is black' Cahoon

I must apolize. I made up the SHOELACE pun.
Sorry about that. I did it because, the way I figured it, this was definitely a joke application.
But now I'm really not so sure.

The problem with some of the applicants, is that it's often hard to differentiate between the nutjobs and the comedians.

If a joke is funny,You just need to toss ethics aside and laugh.

No need to apologize. It was my misunderstanding.
I still think this is just a poop joke.

Yes.
If he is trying to bring racism into the issue (when it is clearly unrelated) then this line is supposed to illustrate the stupidity of false claims of racism.
If you are in the US you might not get it as it is a quote by a British comedy character called Ali G. This character is attempting to invade a police cordon and the police tell him to stay behind the cordon. So he says "Is it cause I is black" which is humorous because A) It is so unrelated to what is going on, and B) He actually isn't
Tyrone Calhoon sounds like he is either very deluded or having a joke. The racism issue was just yet another way of distracting from the main issue.

Didn't realise it was an Ali G line.
My feeling is that just because the guy is using race as an issue and is either having a laugh or is disturbingly unbalanced I saw no need to counter with a racial reply. There's enough to potentially attack the guy on without using any racial approach. I'm from the states and obviously that stuff is a nasty issue over here. I see more veiled and not so veiled racist garbage every day. Mercifully it doesn't seem to happen on this board and finding out that the line is from the show clarifies it some for me.
I don't tend to be overly sensitive, hell, I'm a Chris Morris fan, how could I be? Thanks for the reply...

That's not surprising; rational thinkers are attracted here for obvious reasons, and rationally, racism is just daft.
Put another way, JREF attracts a better class of thinker...

It's kind of amazing just how high the intellect level on this board is. It's a bit humbling...

This is the part that worries me: "I have a very unique skill that has come in handy many times, I have used it many times at friends houses also people call me when they need me to do it!!!"
It comes in "handy" when he purposely plugs up a toilet, with fecal matter in it?

Have you seen some of the other applications Kramer receives? On a scale of 1 to 10, this is only a 7.

Then, surely, the guy who wants to test his powers usign a rat, or Ali "Bite Me", must be even bigger windups...?
It's going to be fun seeing where this Tyrone claim leads...
