View Full Version : JIM DUNN, Hospital Angel
20th December 2004, 12:27 PM
It's a few days before Xmas 2005, and this just came in...
============================================WHAT I PROPOSE HERE IS A DUPLICATE OF A CHALLENGE I DID BACK IN 1975. IT WAS NEVER PUBLISHED AS THE END RESULT WAS TOO MUCH FOR THE INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER TO HANDLE.
IN SHORT MY PROPOSAL WENT LIKE THIS: CHOOSE A HOSPITAL AND FROM 12 MIDNIGHT LOCAL TIME FRIDAY NIGHT TO 12 MIDNIGHT SUNDAY NIGHT NO ONE WILL DIE. I INCLUDED EMERGENCY ROOM ADMISSIONS AS LONG AS THEWY WERE IN THE DOORS OF THE ER BY MIDNIGHT.
WHAT HAPPENED WAS NO ONE DIED IN THIS LARGE HOSPITAL BUT ONE MINUTE AFTER MIDNIGHT ON MONDAY MORNING 12 PEOPLE DIED IN THE HOSPITAL. THE REPORTER WAS ACTUALLY MAD THAT ALTHOUGH THE CHALLENGE WAS A SUCCESS HE COULD NOT HANDLE THE 12 DEATHS THAT OCCURRED AND SAID IT WOULD MAKE BAD PRESS. HE QUIT HIS JOB SOON AFTER THE TEST.
WHAT GOOD ABOUT THIS TEST IS THAT I DO NOT HAVE TO GO ANYWHERE NOR DO YOU HAVE TO SEND ANYONE TO ME?
OUTSIDE THE TEST!
WHAT I WILL DO DIFFERENT THIS TIME IN AN ATTEMPT TO NOT HAVE PATIENTS SUDDENLY DIE ON MONDAY MORNING; I WILL STABILIZE PATIENTS IN THE TEST PERIOD FOR TWO MORE DAYS. THE DOCTORS WILL HAVE THIS EXTRA TIME TO DO THEIR THING. I WILL AVOID NEGATIVE PRESS AND HARD FEELINGS WITH THIS EXTRA TWO DAYS BONUS PERIOD.
I WOULD REQUEST THAT WHOEVER IS THE MONITOR OF THIS TEST SHOULD CONTACT ME DIRECTLY VIA PHONE, FAX OR EMAIL. MONITOR SHOULD HAVE PHYSICALLY WALKED INTO THIS HOSPITAL SO I HAVE A BETTER FIX ON THE PHYSICAL LOCATION OF THE STRUCTURE. I WOULD PREFER A HOSPITAL IN EUROPE, BRITISH ISLES OR THE UNITED STATES. I WILL NEED THE NAME OF THE HOSPITAL AND ITS ADDRESS.
LIMITING THIS TEST TO ONE INDIVIDUALALLOWS PEOPLE TO RATIONALIZE AWAY ANY DRAMATIC RESULTS. BEEN THERE DONE THAT.
JIM DUNN, ST. CLOUD, FL.
At Randi's request, I am asking this applicant some questions, noted in the following post.

Hello Mr. Dunn,
I am in receipt of your JREF Challenge application and accompanying claim letter. Your claim has been accepted for preliminary testing.
Firstly, please tell us the following:
A- The name of the Reporter you dealt with in 1975 (along with his present whereabouts, if you can provide that for us)...
B- The name, address and phone # of the hospital at which no deaths occurred during the two days, according to your claim...
C- The name of the TV Station or Publication the reporter was working for at the time...
D- The exact dates during which you claim to have used your "power" to keep patients at the hospital from dying.
We'll take it from there. Provide us with this data, and we will make the necessary inquiries in an attempt to verify your claim.
If the results of our investigation corresponds with your claim, we propose that your preliminary test involve the following hospital:
Aventura Hospital and Medical Center
20900 Biscayne Boulevard
Aventura, FL 33180
Telephone: (305) 682-7000
You May Also Visit Us At http://www.aventurahospital.com
As my mother has been hospitalized at this facility repeatedly in the last year, I am always making visits there. I know the place intimately.
But first, the data, please.
M. Kramer, JREF

Thank You for your professional reply. Here are some answers.
The reporter was named "Tom Valentine," with the National Tattler. The paper has been out of business for some time now. He was also an author of a book on the "Burmuda Triangle." (see attachment)
The Hospital was known to me as Charlotte Memorial, of course in Charlotte, N.C.. Research will show the name changed to or was always Fawcett Memorial. It was a long time ago.
I could not give you the exact dates. I can tell you that it was soon after Tom Valentine had done a center fold out on psychic healing with myself and a fellow called Norbu Chen or something like that.
Al Mankoff my agent for a time is probably still alive. Last I checked he was living in North Carolina with his wife Audrey. He may have kept in touch with Tom. The internet has him living in High Point,N.C.. His phone is listed at 336-***-0400. He will give you his email. I used to have it and he changed internet provider.
The reason I was in the Knight Ridder papers three times that I remember --is because Darrell Sifford the editor of the Charlotte News was in the same hospital when I was called in to save a fellow named Duncan Wilson. Al will remember that night. Darrell was there to tear me up and wearing a doctor coat so I would not suspect he wasn't a doctor. He was fortunate to see this poor soul come out of a coma and stop bleeding internally and cheat his appointment with death that night.
If you unzip the attachment there is a way you can click on the plus sign and read Tom Valentine under others to speak blocked article.
Call me if I can be of any help. I did work with someone who I could not help who had been in a coma for ten years when I became aware of her. Kaye Obara at 305-***-7905 and her daughter Eduarda.
Interesting Hospital you choose.

Along with this email, Jim sent an attachment of an article on the Bermuda Triangle written by the journalist he claims to have demonstrated his powers to in 1975.
Thank you for the data. Of course without the exact dates, your claim is NOT able to be verified. One would think that you would most certainly have kept a record of the exact dates of such an extraordinary event. Without that data, however, we cannot give any attention to your claim of having actually done what you claim to have done. That's too bad.
Your Challenge application and claim, on the other hand, seems easy enough to test. During which 4 days do you propose to demonstrate your claim?
p.s. please do NOT send any attachments or data that is not directly pertinent to your claim, as it is of absolutely no use to us.

About an hour after emailing Jim to tell him not to send anything that isn't "pertinent to the claim", I received this:
This psychic stuff has a mind of its own. Last night I had a dream. First there was a doctor or administrator who was quite about 6 feet tall or more and quite a big guy. He seemed to be in charge of the hospital. He would have graduated from quite a presdigious college as I saw him in his graduation garb as if he wears it as his coat of armor.
The concern was getting permission to deliver a quite elegant nightgrown and lacy rob to a woman who just had colo rectal surgery. He was not that receptive at first but then reconsidered and gave permission. He escorted me to her room and she was happy to get her wish to have her nightgown and rob.
We all wear a suit of armor. You should know that I am a mortgage broker and also a locksmith. I am working on a book of my experiences in the psychic field and life experiences. It is of course my contention that most everyone is psychic to a degree and it is part of our operating equipment that we do not know how to use.
Merry Christmas, JIM DUNN
I think perhaps I will neglect to respond to this little story.

We're only interested in your claim. We don 't care what you do for a living, what your hobbies are, what you dream about,
or what you do in the privacy of your own home. Please stick to your claim, as previously requested.

4 days? How about from midnight friday December 24th until midnight Sunday December 26. Please check original letter.
If there is a problem let me know. I am going out now to run some errands and will not be back until after perhaps 3pm.
My response to Jim...
Check the original letter? OK. And I quote, from your ORIGINAL claim letter:
WHAT I WILL DO DIFFERENT THIS TIME IN AN ATTEMPT TO NOT HAVE PATIENTS SUDDENLY DIE MONDAY MORNING; I WILL STABILIZE PATIENTS IN THE TEST PERIOD FOR TWO MORE DAYS. THE DOCTORS WILL HAVE THIS EXTRA TIME TO DO THEIR THING.
I WILL AVOID NEGATIVE PRESS AND HARD FEELINGS WITH THIS EXTRA TWO DAY BONUS PERIOD.
Is there something I'm missing here, Jim, or are two days PLUS two days not equal to FOUR DAYS?
You've made a claim, Jim. It's in your letter in black & white. Are you backing out?
21st December 2004, 12:15 PM
I like you Kramer, Of course I am not backing out. Okay, but I prefer all day Thursday until midnight Sunday. Is that okay with you. Ninety Six hours.
One of the reason I elected to do this right away is because you sent met the location of the hospital and I already have a fix on it. It is also Christmas time.
29th December 2004, 11:42 AM
Well, I asked Jim for the phone number of the reporter he refers to in his claim letter. Jim responded by giving me a phone number, but hardly the one I requested.
I called the number. It was NOT for the reporter whose name was Valentine, but for a fellow "psychic" named AL MANKOFF.
The voice mail prompt made no mention of a name, so I assumed it was indeed Valentine's phone number, and left a message, leaving him my email address. I soon received a response.
Al's first email gushes waves of praise for his buddy Jim Dunn.
Attached with the emails are numerous files showing the enormous press he has received in recent decades, much of it picturing him alongside Jim Dunn, along with a pamphlet for HUMAN SERVICE ASSOCIATES, which it seems he runs with Jim Dunn - a psychic "counseling, healing and consulting services.
Nothing but BS.
So, I asked Al Mankoff to send me copies of ANY materials he has relating to Jim Dunn and his claims regarding raising the dead.
He says he will do so, happily.
Today we received a massive package of papers, NONE of it having anything to do with Jim Dunn. Plenty of fawning press on Al Mankoff, but nothing on Jim Dunn. And plenty on Al's theories involving the "spirit life", and what kind of humans exist on a plane above all others.
So I wrote back...
Thanks for trying to send us what we asked for, but I guess you didn't actually have it to give.
Your theories are of no interest to us whatsoever.
If you should ever feel that you have evidence that you can demonstrate to us in support of your beliefs, please feel free to apply for the JREF Challenge, as a demonstration is the only thing that will suffice.

Kramer, Just to let you know I have no luck with Aventura Hospital and no luck with the Dade County Medical Examiners Office.
If you go to the following link...
...you will see that you failed preliminary testing. So sorry.
Please feel free to apply again next year.
6th January 2005, 12:51 PM
It seems that Jim Dunn failed twice.
19th January 2005, 09:22 AM
Jim Dunn is now sending faxes in dispute of the obituaries that conclusively refute his claim.
I'm ignoring them. The obituaries are good enough for me.
Some people never give up. The more absurd the claim, the more they believe in them - and in themselves.
One of the few REALLY bad things about this job is the constant contact I have with people who have wasted their entire lives.
It is so, so sad.
