I think this is a really interesting development in this war, and an outgrowth of the web...free lance war-fare and propoganda. People from all sides of a conflict can now reach into the web and screw around with information, websites, computers, etc. of the opponent...and they don't have to be official efforts.

I'd be interested in what some of you think about this hacking craze and how/if the way that warfare is conducted and popoganda and information provided is being changed.

This certainly would add a new dimension to guerilla warfare. Anyone with the knowledge could join, and there'd be no deaths in this style of warfare.

I agree with Josh Chaftez: (http://oxblog.blogspot.com/2003_03_23_oxblog_archive.html#91504368)

If we stick with it and bring democracy to Iraq, it will be via Al Jazeera that the rest of the Arab world will know about it, because the autocracies' state-run stations sure won't want to let their people know.

Hackers should leave Al Jazeera alone.

No statement on volunteer hacker warriors in general, except that (as Josh suggests) it's quite possible that volunteers could be hurting the cause they're trying to help.
