Harbor, support, feed, or supply a terrorist, then you are a target. I guess they don't think we are serious.

With a sizable force in Iraq, I would expect us to use some tough talk to try to win the next war without it starting. Syria and Iran know we are serious. The only problem is, that quagmire that bogged us down for 6 months in the UN sec. council made us look weaker in their eyes. I wonder if they take us seriously or if they think "first theyll make a resolution and it will be a year before they go to war".

I hate to say this but that whole region needs to be cleaned up, 'allies' included.

Syria has been drawing attention

Syria is included on the U.S. State Department's list of sponsors of terrorism.

This stuff has led me to the following question:

It sure seems difficult to attack our enemies without, in some way, angering more people and turning them, in turn, into enemies. Would it be efficient for us to get everyone pissed off at us, turn them into bitter enemies, and then kill 'em all?

It's such a simple plan. Syria and Iraq join in. North Korea makes its move. All the Arab states start backing attacks on us. Then we go to war agains all of them! No more trying to persuade them to support us, no more propagada, no more wondering if the old guy in the Honda has a trunk full of explosives. They all will have a trunk full of explosives.

i have mentioned this possibility already. a new 'vietnam', in which the enemy exists in many nations, and can attack from many directions.

it also reminds me of the build up to WWI, global conflict anyone.

I think what's made the US look weaker in their eyes is 25 years of acting weaker. Starting with Jimmy Carter letting Iranian "students" take over our embassy and holding it (and the people) hostage for over a year, through hundreds of Americans being killed by terrorists without the US doing anything to stop it.

President Carter made one of the greatest mistakes made in US foreign policy. He thought that by curtailing spending by the Defense Department it would send a message to the Soviets that we were serious about stopping the arms buildup.
Well the Soviets took that message to heart and invaded Afghanistan.

looks like Syria can wipe the sweat of its brow for the moment.
