View Full Version : Ode to Saddam's willing Western human shields:

Like Noah's ark in reverse, the endangerred species of ill-adjusted haters of civilization are going two by two towards a coming flood. Saddam, who in no way resembles the Noah of old, will be chaining these no-goodniks to whatever "baby-milk factory" or "palace" or "hospital" he keeps his non-existant weapons stashes in. Noone can doubt the fervor of these willing sacrifices to stand in America's way from getting Saddam out of power. They believe as strongly as suicide bombers that we care a little bit about their self-inflicted torture. For shame.

Communists march in. Anti-Israeli activists scurry. Anti-Americans fly into Jordan on American Airlines. It's a big deadly party like there's no attack tomorrow! I suppose some people may be dissuaded by the misguided ex-soldier who is leading the charge, the traitor Kenneth Nichols. Perhaps we should hold off on shooting... at least until he finishes his tour of Britain and finds his way down to Iraq.

Saddam couldn't be more delighted. He can prove the idiocy of the West, the inane love-your-evil-dictator hypocracy of these yuppies, and, he hopes, stop many American attacks all at once. What he will get is a clear moral message that people must take responsibility for their own actions.

Aim well, bombers of America and Britain. So long, my communist, pacifist, tyrant-friendly compatriots.

We won't miss you.

How is Saddam going to stop the CIA from infiltrating these people???

This sounds like a great idea to get inside information of what goes on inside Iraq!! :D

Maybe I should work for Black Ops? How much do they pay? :D

(Oh, and btw, Ben...just because people are opposed to war doesn't make them "communist, pacifist, tyrant-friendly compatriots". You are way to eager to judge your fellow man, usually in a negative way...)

Nichols' planned human shield convoys are one of several such efforts around the world to mobilize activists in Iraq as a deterrent against military strikes on Baghdad.

In Bucharest, more than 100 Romanian diehard communists said Tuesday they would travel by bus to Iraq to act as human shields in case of a U.S. attack.

Members of the tiny Romanian Workers Party, which took the mantle of ousted dictator Nicolae Ceausescu's defunct Communist party in 1995, said they would set off next month to support "the cause of the people."

The new human shield plans revive memories of the 1991 Gulf War when President Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) forcibly held thousands of Western hostages after his invasion of Kuwait.

Is your point that each and every one of these people travelling to Iraq are die-hard communists??

Anti-war-on-Iraqers of every stripe. There are good, but misguided people in there. I hope they come to their senses before they meet America's well-guided missiles.

Funny that you only paint one side of the fence.

Let's just hope those 'well-guided' missiles don't miss their targets...and that people won't begin to glow in the dark and get funny-looking babies afterwards...

I only need to paint one side of the fence, you'll get the other side for me :)

Strange you should worry so much about the Iraqi people, when America would be hard pressed to kill as many of them as Saddam has. Wait a little longer, and thousands more will die. Morality demands that if a war is necessary and inevitable, we make it as early and quick and painless as possible.

The thing I'm curious about is how they will choose the targets to shield. Based on their stated goals, I would think they would choose to protect women and children, hospitals, that sort of thing. Sites which should be obviously civilian and thus not in danger of being targetted.

I hope their not going ask Saddam. I think he would be glad to have them chain themselves to a radar or tank.

but it appears the US is the source of the inevitability. the quick, painless surgical strike is something that has long been rumoured, but never sighted.

Saddam's ruthless repression of his people and continuing violations of any ceasefire or peace treaty or weapons treaty with the allies or America or the UN matter not a bit in your mind. I'm so sorry that America has to exist just to cause such pain to you. I feel bad. Maybe I can make it up to you by strapping myself to a Iraqi Red Cross with tanks parked in it. <sob>

i have no love for saddam, nor, it appears, do most of his subjects. once again the question has to be asked, why saddam, out of all the murderous dictators, and why now?

We've waited too long already, as he continued to murder his people even under the no-fly zone. He even hired Al Queda members to attack the Kurdish north recently.
