Bethke's back (http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51017), with the promise of an even more spectacular demonstration, at or before TAM3!
Now...he has not specified a blinding, but just in case, I think it would be helpful to have a list started.

If it applies to non-attendees, I'd be honoured to be on the list.

I'm already half-blind, so the rest should be easy for Bethke.

I'm on the original blinding list, but just in case Paul lost it, continue to count me in.
Please hurry up and do it though, Paul. I'm due for a new eye exam and corrective lenses, so you can keep me from wasting my money. I can use the funds toward my cane and guide dog instead. :)

Yes, but the blind skepchicks will not be nearly as discriminating as we usually are. Look (hee) on the bright side.

I can't see anything anyway!
I remember last year thinking how cool it would be if someone broke into the electrical system for the hotel. You know, like in the movies, there would be one big swtich you would just pull and all the lights would go out!
I wonder if this has an opposite effect? For instance, my nephew is blind? Would he then be able to see?
Go ahead, take what little eyesight I have left!

However, I do know a little American Sign Language, so deafness would be my choice of the above.

Duppy, I predict you will not need to worry about being left out. In your short time here, you have generated a considerable following (myself included).
And oh yes, I was one of the original blindees, and I must say it has come true. In fact, I have been blinded twice. Once on the living room windows and once on the sliding patio door.

I can get blind all by myself, thanks all the same. But since I'm fairly discriminating in what I imbibe to do that (Chateau Neuf de Pape, for example), I wouldn't mind being blinded for free.
AND I'm in the southern hemisphere, which may make Bethke's spell go backwards anyway (I truly don't need these specs these days).
AND I'm in a different time zone, so maybe only my feet will be blinded...
Hmmm... I'll await the production of evidence, but not with bated breath.

My second big laugh of the day! Geez, normally when I hear that question, all my defenses go up as it's someone trying to convert me back. This forum is like sanctuary. Well, since you asked...I was a hard core Born Again Christian for years. And the more in depth I studied it trying to be a "better" Christian, the more I saw the Wizard of Oz was a man behind a curtain. While I certainly believe there are forces or processes out there that we would have a hell of a time conceiving or perceiving with our little puny brains and senses, I'd say I haven't believed in the Man with the Beard for about 14 years. And I'm not talking about Paul A. :D Damn, time flies.
Now Loki is a god I DO believe in. That one seems to rule my life.
What about you?

http://www.members.shaw.ca/eostory/ROTF25.GIF
Man, at least you'll have more time to get to know us. You can check out my website http://www.members.shaw.ca/eostory/
I've been atheist/humanist/Bright, etc. My whole life. I tried religion, but gave that up after reading the bible and a few other alarming experiences. Every time I'm in a church and hear stupid things like "HIV/AIDS is a curse from God for Gays" (this in a United Church of all places), I want to scream.
I've always been a skeptic too. Questioning everything and looking up information avidly. Any questions...I can usually find some sort of of answer from the vast resources on the net or even in my books at home.
I respect those like some skepchicks here that are Christian and skeptic, but I just cannot do it myself. I hold no malice to Christians as a whole, just to trying to convert others that are just fine, thank you. So you can see, I would be the last person to think of as the sort trying to convert others to anything.
So, thank you for taking the plunge and answering my question! I have a great curiosity about others' life experiences. I hope I don't come across as a snoop, just curious :)
Oh, I should add that you are welcome to post a hello to everybody in the thread: http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=1870742744#post1870742744

Are you kidding? I *love* finding out what makes others tick. I'm the last one to call you a snoop. I'm the same way. Like you, I'm far from knocking any in this forum for whatever beliefs they may hold, as we are all questioners and delvers here and that is what I respect.

LOL It is a supermarket tabloid...a newspaper on sale at the checkout counter of stores across the US, along with the National Enquirer (http://www.nationalenquirer.com/) and Star Magazine (http://www.starmagazine.com/). Of the three, the Weekly World News is by far the most honest (about its complete lack of any factual news). It is the place to go for information about Bat Boy (http://www.weeklyworldnews.com/features/chamber/52041), for instance.
