It is completely understandable that Powell and Rumsfeld would war Syria and Iran about "supplying" the Iraqi regeime. And yet, one can't but wonder what we do about it? Go after Syria? Bomb Damascus? Go after Iran? Bomb them as well? Go after them next -- planning for "next" seems a little premature given that the US hasn't finished this job yet? My concern is, and has been, that the longer this drags out, the more likely other arab/moslem states will loose their fear and awe, as it were, of America and will question America's resolve, especially in light of a developing humanitarian disaster on the ground. How many battles are we prepared to fight at one time...and why didn't they talk about this before committing troops (back when Iraq was going to fall in a matter of hours).

Well...if it does widen I don't think we should be overly worried. These were the same countries that combined forces and were roundly defeated by tiny Israel back in '67....and I doubt their capabilities have improved since then quite as much as ours have. Also the '67 war looked like a looming disaster for Israel until they won it. Upon winning it they won territory and relative security. If indeed we are warring upon terrorism....then Syria and Iran are on that list already. Maybe it's better to get it all over with now?? I don't know,...but have hope it will all be for the best in the end.
