"... Michael's Moore's political screed "Fahrenheit 9/11" ...(was) roundly snubbed in the Oscar nominations....
The film, which cost just six million dollars to make, has raked in more than 220 million dollars around the world, becoming by far the most successful documentary in history. "

I'm sure his 214 million will be at least some consolation.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I'm not even sure if it would have deserved a best doc nom even if it had been eligible. However, I've only seen "Super Size Me", so I'm not sure what the other docs are like.

When Moore was going off about how he wanted Farenheit to get a best picture nomination I think he was just being his usually cocky, antagonistic self. I don't know anyone in the biz who actually thought his film had any chance to grab top honour. It would be highly unsual for a documentary to get a nomination. In fact, I don't think it's ever happened.
