Fans?

Yes. Two box, and one ceiling. It rattles too much, though, and seems about to fall, so I rarely use it.

I'm not a fan myself, really, but I'm a big fan of those who are.

My new theory denies the existence of 'fans.'

I'm a fan of those little Japanese fans that Geisha girls seem to use to act coy.

I'm a big fan of coyness in general I might add...

I'm not so much a fan, more an occasional enthusiast.

In some languages (Spanish for instance) the word for "fan" IS "fanatic".

yes I am a fan of the man who once said

"This band has never played this song before, but it would be a sacrilige not to play it here!"

and then launched into the Illinois enema bandit!

No - although the word derives from 'fanatic' and I'll use it casually (ie. "I'm a fan of David Bowie" and "I'm a member of his fansite") I don't mean it in the way that it is defined. A fanatic.

I've met fanatics a few times - more recently had the pleasure of dinner with a woman the same age as myself, similar early life but around the time we both graduated from high school ('Two roads diverged in a yellow wood...') I chose to continue to University.

She chose to follow David Bowie tours around the world. And that was her choice for the next fifteen or so years.

We met at the DB show in Perth. Her career choices gave her just enough funds to head for the next leg of whatever tour he was on, having visited every major city (and many of the minor ones) that he had. She could only really talk about a limited range of subjects, most of which ended up tending towards talking about Bowie. She was polite and didn't really find much that I had to say about my life as being of interest, yet but we liked each other.

She's currently in New York. Bowie isn't touring as of yet and I think she's got fellow fans there who are putting her up (she's German). Bowie knows who she is but she's never spoken to him - apparently his long term minder Coco distains her in the same way she treats other fans.

Actually, I thought the word "fan" was derived from "fancier", as the british use the word. For example, "I think she fancies him".

Fans? No fans. Fins, now; those are something.

Finally, someone who understands that fundamental truth. But it is spelled with two n:s.
