All those years hanging with the in crowd have finally paid off! I got my invite today from the Kabbalah Centre International.
For only 29.95 (regularly 42.00!) I can Become Like God.

Just a brief read-through will let me reveal my true nature, excape the maximum-security prison called life, eradicate my ego, think the unthinkable, end pain and suffering in my life.

Quite a bargain, I'd say. I admit to being somewhat dissapointed in that I don't get a complimentary red string to wear, but what the hey, I got some twine and some nice red acrylic paint....

There are areas of my city that can provide you all of that (except maybe the "Become Like God" part) for the mere price of walking into the areas alone at night - though there may be a very brief bit of "pain and suffering"...

What 'friend' signed you up for that one?

I got an email a few years ago asking me to renew my membership in the Communist Party of Canada. I still haven't figured out who did it.

That won't help, because every true believer knows that real kabbalah string is wrapped seven times around Rachel's tomb. They won't be fooled by cheap imitations, because everyone knows the real power afforded by kaballah strings!

I once spotted a group of Jr. High intellectuals for PeTA dancing along an overpass, accompanied by the requisite dude in a big furry animal costume. I took three exits to get back there and sign up for "all the literature necessary to start my own local chapter" and proudly gave them my brother's name and address.

He thanked me with a subscription to something from Limbaugh.

We have since called a truce.

I got an email asking if I wanted to renew my membership of a pay-porn site. My wife saw it, so much explaining was to be done. I was never a member in the first place, so I guess it was just random spam, but I wasn't impressed.

That line made me laugh really hard, although with a mouthful of coffee. Thanks.
