Can anybody recommend any other political forums? I like this forum, but since just before the war began, it's become much less analytical and much more emotional and slanted politically to the side of whoever is posting at the time, which bothers me. I like to discuss politics, but I hate to play politics, which seems to be happening here a lot. I want to discuss and analyze current events and politics, but I guess I just want a recommendation for a forum with less of an emotional connection to the events that are going on.

Does any such forum exist as far as anyone knows? Can any recommendations be made? Newsgroups are okay, but I'd prefer web based. A level of moderation is fine if it is done only to make posters follow a written policy of use.

Thanks in advance.

There is something about war that brings out the worst in people.

What are you trying to say?

I say WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY??

You sayin the people here can't discuss things in a rational and unbiased manner? I'll tell you what you can do MR. ANALITICAL HATES TO PLAY POLITICS TOO HIP FOR THE ROOM IF THIS PLACE AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU WHY DON'T YOU TRY THE PLANET VOLCAN...

...er, pardon me, excuse me, I do apologize, don't know what came over me there. I'm sure somewhere these things are being discussed calmly and rationally by thoughtful people who are focused on realistic solutions, and are capable of seeing the situation clearly, without allowing their emotions to cloud their judgement (too bad we couldn't have found one for president, but, oh well).

If you find such a place, please come back and let us know...no...wait, maybe that's not such a good idea.

The (infamous) TVTalkshows JE board has some good political threads going & for the most part it's very calm, cool & collected.

Right now, the board is undergoing an overhaul & won't be up & running until April 5th, but I think you can read some of the threads via this URL :

JE Board - TVTalkshows (http://tvtalkshows.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=John+Edward&number=11&DaysPrune=1000&LastLogin=)

(Warning.... most of the OTHER forums at that site are an endless flame war)

Thanks for the link, Mel. I'll check it out. I've always been too afraid of that board to visit, though. Seems like a lot of 'questionable' people take up residence there. I didn't know the politics section was a nice place:)

To tell you the truth, lately I've sort of been wanting a forum where moderators have the role of making sure that posts are free of bad logic, and do that job effectively. Sort of acting as an editor of sorts, I guess. I think a forum such as that would be pretty fun to debate in, since you never have to worry about somebody starting to lose and resorting to their WMD stash in that event(posting things void of logic but look good, that is).

PS; got a thread rating of one star! Sweet!

You think this forum is bad??? Read some of the stuff here;

I had to stop posting there some months ago as I could no longer get past the Orwellian doublespeak of many who post there.

I will say that posters on the non-political forums on that site are very rational/informative - and even fun.

Barkhorn.
