View Full Version : Custom Icons in IE Favorites

Usually, when I bookmark a web page in IE, the resulting "Favorite" has the standard IE icon.

Sometimes, it instead has a custom icon, obviously supplied by whoever created the web page being bookmarked.

Does anyone know how this is done? I've done a View Source on some pages which do this, and I don't see anything obvious.

Since looking into this, I have noticed that all the pages that do this seem to all be .php pages. This may be a coincidence, due to the small sample size.

Here is a link to a web page which does what I am talking about:

Don't you just put an icon called "favicon.ico" (16x16) in the website's root directory?

Here's a site with a short explanation:

Which reminds me of something.
