When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev.1:9). The problem is, my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

also - My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev. 24:10-16) Could we just burn them to death at aprivate family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14).

Eagerly awaiting your guidance.

I was told that the Old Testiment doesn't count as the new Covenant made that obsolete. Therefore, only New Testiment Law counts now. YMMV.

Unless, of course, there is a passage in the OT that supports your particular bigotry. Then it's still god's law.

Also note that if the passage which you cite doesn't support your particular bigotry, you just need a little "holy spirit" to help you see the true meaning of the passage. Of course, actual scholars may disagree, but what do they know? They're probably from them godless Marxist liberal colleges!

Likewise, if there are passages which support bigotries which aren't...politically correct, that's because those bigots weren't True Christians and were misinterpretting. Or maybe they were time-travelling atheists working to undermine Christianity in the eyes of future generations (yes, I have in fact heard all of these explanations from conservative Christians) by deliberately misinterpretting the Bible.

I too was excited when I heard about the amazing time-travelling atheists. Unfortunately, my further questions and comments on this matter resulted in me being banned and the thread being deleted by mods who had a dislike for skepticism.

But then I got to thinking...what if I hadn't been banned, but the time-travellers went back in time to ensure that I never signed up? Perhaps these mysterious atheists don't just work in our past to undermine the Bible's moral authority today, but also work in our present to prepare further embarassments for use in future fundie/non-fundie flame wars? It would explain a great many curious artifacts of recent history...
