While looking through a link billiefan2000 posted http://www.omegaletter.com/articles.asp?ArticleID=919 Jack Kinsella - Omega Letter Editor I found a page/ area called Sci-tech which discuses a few scientific topics.
I found the following article posted there.
Bright Light

Astronomers at the Australian National University have spotted one of the largest cosmic explosions ever seen.
The gamma ray burst - about one trillion times more luminous than the sun - was about two billion light years away in the constellation Leo.
After reading this at this web site I sent the following e-mail to the site to Jack Kinsella
Managing Editor.
Hello.
You do realize that this fact contradicts your belief that the universe was created about 10,000 years ago do you not?
For your belief as to this timetable to be true this light would not have yet reached the earth. Let us say that the telescope was so powerful that it could see even a billion light years away that being speed is 87000 miles per second 87000 x 60 seconds, x 60 min, x 24 hours, x 365 days = 274,363,200,0000 miles a year times lets say just one billion years is as you can see pretty far and generous.
So let us say this telescope can see let us say 1 billion years of light miles this leaving still one billion years.
This light they see is a picture if you will far far into the past, this event did not just happen it happened billions of years ago.
If this universe was created only say 10,000 years ago as you believe that light could never been seen now and would not be seen for 2 billion- 10,000 years.
Please know I mean no disrespect.
Be well
I may be way off base
