View Full Version : Are you a good American?

Tricky

If so, then you ought to have no problem with this quiz (http://www.polls.aol.com/ifs/poll/election/quiz283.adp). I got them all right. Score one for the left-wing matriarchal communist conspiracy.

Damn, I only got 2 out of 12, my excuse is I'm not an American. The results page said "Spot the White House dog would do better.", that really hurt.

5.

But I'm Canadian.

This is pretty funny. Only the non-USA citizens have taken the quiz. (I should not say "Americans" in deference to God's Advocate and other Americans who are not from the US).

I was sort of hoping for a response from my USA brethren (and sistern) whose politics tend towards the conservative end of the scale. I have a feeling that few would ace the quiz.

Gee, I got only 10 out of 12. A "model citizen" according to the quiz, but I guess I'm not as good an American as Tricky.

I'll go and turn myself in to John Ashcroft now...:(

Sorry: I tend to the liberal end of things. For the record, I missed questions #10 and #11.

But I AM a citizen of the USA, and all bitching aside, I'm pretty glad for it.

From one of my "favourite" Brits:

Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny's in America
No tricks at the wheel
Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Nobody needs anyone
They don't even just pretend
Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny's in America
CHORUS (x2)
I'm afraid of Americans
I'm afraid of the world
I'm afraid I can't help it
I'm afraid I can't
I'm afraid of Americans
Johnny's in America
Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny wants a plane
Johnny wants to suck on a Coke
Johnny wants a woman
Johnny wants to think of a joke
Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny's in America
Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
CHORUS (x2)
I'm afraid of Americans
Uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny's in America
Johnny looks up at the stars
Johnny combs his hair
And Johnny wants pussy in cars
Johnny's in America, uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny's in America, uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
CHORUS (x2)
I'm afraid of Americans
Dummy's an American
Dummy's an American
CHORUS (x2)
Yeah, I'm afraid of Americans
I'm afraid of the words
I'm afraid I can't help it
I'm afraid I can't
I'm afraid of Americans
Johnny's an American
Johnny's an American
Johnny's an American, uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh (repeat)

I think it is mainly the first (http://www.house.gov/Constitution/Amend.html) one that is in trouble. However, if Jedi got his way, the nineteenth would be scratched out too.

(And I love your new avatar. Where are Mighty Manfred and Crabby Appleton?)

'Cause we've had a succession of Presidents who initiate military action without calling it "war" and bothering Congress.

Close, but no cigar. 11 of 12 for me. I missed the one about the term for US Senators. I thought it was 4 years. More than long enough to put up with some of those jerks. Who elects these idiots, anyway?

12 of 12. Had to guess on the one about when the constitution was written and the number of amendments.

Btw, to the one who asked, repealed amendments remain amendments, but a downstream amendment repeals it, also counting as an amendment. The document can only grow.

Schoolhouse Rock to the rescue!

"In 1787 I'm told the founding fathers all sat down
To write a list of principles that are known the world around
The USA was just starting out, a whole brand new country..."

"What they got was called the constitution. The first part is the preamble, which goes something like this:

(sing with me)

We the peo-ple, in order to form a more perfect union, establash justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare a-and, secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordane and establish this constitution o-of the United States of America."

Did I ever mention I was in love with Lyn Ahrens (the one who sings that one and others, including Interjections!)?

Doh! 10 of 12. Senator terms (thought it to be 4 years) and date of Constitution got me. 1776 came to mind.

That was one of the best of School House Rocks.

When will someone with an American flag in their avatar post their status?

I got them all. A little while ago I posted a thread in banter with over 90 questions that a friend had for a practice test for her citizenship test. A few of my american born female friends could not tell me who we fought against in the war of Independence. They both guessed France. No joke.:D I asked one how many states there are and she said 52.

Yup. The trend started before before the first Gulf war, didn't it? Sadly, the Gulf war marked the beginning of my paying attention to the "workings" of our government.

BTW, sorry about not putting the "sarcasm alert" before my last post :p

Depends...
if B.S is interpreted as Bullsh*t (heck why do I indulge in this PC language crap, it sucks! ******), it's redundant.
If it means Bachelor of Science it's an oxymoron, or can you explain to me what's scientific about government :D ?

Moved back to good old Frankfurt because of a fantastic business opprtunity here. Fully intend to go back to SF one day... probably when I'm married to my GF who is moving here for the next years...

I missed the draft date of the Constitution. I picked 1790, when in fact it was 1787. Funny thing was I thought it was 1787, but when I saw the 1790 option, I fooled myself.
