This is terrible news and I am very sad. He was maybe the last man in the region who could aslo qualify as a politician and not just a warleader. To me personally it shows that Russian Federation is strictly on course of wiping out the whole nation (which wouldnt stop fighting anyway). No doubt, all this will result mostly in more atrocities on innocent people both in Chechnya and Russia. By the way, A. Mashadov was the third legitimate president of Chechnya who has been killed by Russian Federation (others were D. Dudajev in 1995 and Z. Yandarbiyev in 2004). At the same time Russians haven't been able or willing to catch raving madmans like Bassayev et al.
