Prowar, antiwar, I think we can all agree that Iraqi propaganda is getting surreal. I expect that a few weeks after the top Iraqi generals have been hung nuremberg style, a message will appear on Al Jazeera claiming that not only Iraq won but that their counterattack against the american homeland had begun.

I agree that the end of the Iraqi regime is probably in sight, however what disturbs me is that their best propaganda Organ is apparently none too happy.

Why does this bother me?

To me it suggests that there is something that that Regime does not want its Arab buddies to see.

I immediately thought "mass graves" but I figure if they exsist then they will be reported after the fall of Saddam when Al-jazeera start reporting again. It has to be something the Iraqi's think is going to happen before that time.

Chemical attack?

Maybe they asked to see evidence that Saddam lives?

I very much hope that this is the endgame and the collapse of Saddam's regime is now swift.

I am worried that Saddam still has something up his sleeve - whether it is chemical weapons or something else. I also think a lot depends on how long the Iraqis choose to fight for.

If they want to fight to the last man and keep up a guerilla campaign in those areas already "secured" by the coalition, we may have a very long way to do. Hopefully the Iraqi resistance will crumble away as the hopelessness of their position becomes clear.

The the international community has to start clearing up the mess.

Those two events I have linked to scream "Something is up" to me, I hope, as you say this gets done quickly and as cleanly as possible. I suspect though, as I have just said that this wont be the case.

There's that horrible "End of third Reich" type illogic to those actions.
