Source http://www.geocities.com/waheeb33/jquran.htm We should allow ourselves to take some comfort in the fact that the invading American troops have met with stiff resistance. They were surprised to be received by the Iraqi people with bullets instead of with flowers. We should not postpone this comfort hoping for a victory that only Allah knows about.

...I was going to take the high road here and point out some of the flawed arguments presented but then I realized that that would be akin to beating my head against the wall - so why bother??
Instead I offer this refreshing insight;
These are fine words coming from a believer in [currently] the worlds most savage and repressive religion. Islam's lack of respect for basic human rights, its revolting treatment of women and its tolerance for despicable acts render it an enemy of Western Human values.
And I don't want to hear all that ******** about how "this is not true Islam" or "that is not true Islam". I would not accept these kinds of excuses from Christians or Jews and I certainly will not accept them from the likes of you.
Want to know why Islamic countries (for the most part) are mired in poverty and despair? It's not because of their colonial past, it's not because of the US or Israel, it's because of - ISLAM - and the view that anything of any value was written down in the Koran some 900 years ago. This ignorance is perpetuated down the years!

Well first of all there's no grass in the desert. They don't serve hot dogs and beer. And you are not allowed to behead the closing pitcher for blowing a 4-1 lead.

I sort of agree but I really feel that tribalism is what has held the Middle East back.
Islamic countries without a recent tribalistic culture have done pretty well. Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey [but the Turks had Attaturk and a strong desire to belong to Europe.]
Also Islam never really formed a central, accepted theocratic authority on the Qu'run. This makes interpretations variable from tribe (clan) to tribe. And the split between Shiite and Sunnis prevents any unification on interpretation and leaves it open to local customs as an adjunct to a formalized belief.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iraqi deserters and civilians are flooding out of Baghdad by the busload on Thursday and surrendering to U.S. forces advancing on the Iraqi capital, said a U.S. television reporter traveling with Marines. "
"There are so many people on the road now that it's impossible to further conduct military operations and so our unit has stopped now and set up a hasty prisoner of war compound," said ABC correspondent Mike Cerre. "
