President Bush on Saturday said Pope John Paul II has been "a faithful servant of God and a champion of human dignity and freedom." "He is an inspiration to us all," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "Laura and I join millions of Americans and so many around the world who are praying for the Holy Father."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't fundies, such as W, believe that if one isn't "born again" they've got a 1-way ticket to the hot place? Does that mean JP2 is heading south for the eternity?

I'm pretty sure you're wrong, but I could be wrong about you're being wrong. I believe Bush is a member of the United Methodist chruch. If so, the Pope, even though he's not a Methodist, is in very good standing indeed.

What do you think?

That's hilarious. The most globally recognized religious leader believes the man who thinks he is Jeebus' avatar is the anti-christ.

It's such a shame W probably doesn't know the defenition of "irony".

For the real scoop on the True Believer (tm) perspective on the pope, there is only one place to turn: Landover Baptist Church (landoverbaptist.org). Their recent article on the pope. (http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news1003/pope.html)
The obvious decline in health of Pope John Paul II, Satan’s surrogate here on earth, has True Christian party planners around the globe in a state of panic. “We know he is going to be called to Hell at any minute, but we are just not sure which day,” remarked Mrs. John Loftis, assistant manager of Freehold, Iowa’s Smith & Wesson Convention Center. “That makes planning a celebration difficult,” she added, while flipping the pages of her monthly calendar, which seemed to bleed with the sanguine markings of upcoming events. “As soon as the pope dies, everyone -- except those Mary-worshiping Guineas -- will want to have a huge party to celebrate. I mean, even the loss of your garden-variety Catholic is reason enough to cheer. But our main room is booked for the rest of the year with huge Real Christian banquets. I just checked our bookings this morning and only March 14 is free. Landover Baptist just cancelled its “Feed the Homeless” charity dinner that night due to lack of interest. So, in order for this to work, that old pansy in Rome needs to kick no sooner than March 7, but no later than March 10. Otherwise, Landover will lose its deposit. I’ve already talked to Pastor and there will be no exceptions.”

I agree... anything with the word "mental" in it does not apply to Dubya.

Did Georgie happen to mention how he was scolded by the Pope for being a warmonger?

Tomato, tomato. Man, that platitude makes no sense when written. Anyhoot, no, he may not be a fundy, but he is "born again" and don't those folk believe only they go to heaven?

Yes, but political power, and the manitenance thereof, outweigh any actual religious convictions (or lack thereof.)

Yes, he's going to Hell. But he's the leader of well over 60 million US Catholics, so he's a Good Guy.
